my 130 was approved first and then sent to the NVC. Just when I recevied notification that the I130 was at the NVC, the I129 was approved (approximately two weeks later). The lawyer I was working with recommended that I shelve the 130 for now because I would get the K3 interview shortly while the I130 would take some time to be processed by the NVC. Therefore, I did not send any further money or paperwork (or rather the lawyer did not on my instructions) to the NVC.

Wow, jack and jill, your post is preciously informative. Thank you so so much! I didn't even know that it is even possible not only to contact the consulate, but even skip the packet 3 step. I have now read your post gazillion times and unfortunately I have as many questions and doubts in my mind now. Hopefully I'm not abusing your generosity by asking them. I apologize for being a pest, but I need help and don't know where to turn.

In the meantime, I emailed the consulate after two weeks. They had already received the K3 application.

Can I ask what prompted you, and why you had emailed the consulate? (I take it that the 2 weeks you mentioned the is 2 weeks after I129 approval?). Also how did you know that they had received the K3 application?

i then asked for an interview date which they easily gave me. Along with that, they emailed me the packet 4 for completion. I never had to do a packet 3.

Is it as simple as asking for an interview date? Is there anything we need to provide the consulate? Is this all done via email? This is all unbelievably good to hear.

As I was filling out the paperwork, my wife in india received the paperwork which was eactly what the embassy eamiled to me.

This is great!

In short, my interview is for the I129(K3) and the I130 is currently on hold.

i called the NVC two weeks after my NOA2 (which just happened to be after returning from my vacation visitng my wife). They stated that they had already sent the petition one week earlier to Chennai. I then emailed the embassy and they told me that they received the application.

Is it as simple as asking for an interview date? Is there anything we need to provide the consulate? Is this all done via email? This is all unbelievably good to hear.

I mentioned to them that i wanted to be with my wife for her interview and gave them a time frame for when i would be in india. they then gave me an interview date close to that time. With that interview date, they emailed me the forms that needed to be collected and filled out. When i had called the emabssy, they were very nice and stated that there was only one packet for the K3 (packet 4). The only time they want something is at the time of the interview. Actually, after it has left the USCIS, it has all been good news. hopefully, it continues that way.

The embassy has been very courteous to me. Of course I always mention that I am calling form the USA and that I am calling on behalf of my wife. WHen I had originally talked to the embassy, I had asked for an early interview date. They suggested emailing my request.

Good luck to all and of me as well. Also, Joe84, if you fill out your timeline, it would help the rest of us on our journey. I know when I was beginning my journey the timelines gave me a timeframe to look forward to.

BUMP! Where are the approvals!! I think this is the most dead I've ever seen this thread ... I think maybe Amarceau said something about going on vacation - but that doesn't mean USCIS has to stop approving K3's

hey dip sticks and all.. nope unfortunately a lot of people are taking off for the holidays.. so i will just wait until our first interview to see him next... MAYBE that is if i can control myself.. hopefully by feb!!!

i usually go every 3 mos and i just got back november 6th.. so.. back to waiting!!! and you?

i really wish there would just be a clump of approvals!!

Maybe the employees at the USCIS will be filled with holiday cheer and go approval stamp crazy. I'm not expecting them to get to my petition for a while, but for those of you who have been waiting forever, I'll keep my fingers and toes and legs crossed. Or something like that. :-)

I'm a bit happy that I've actually been 'touched' today, even though I know it only means my petition has been moved from one large pile on a desk to another large pile on some other, hopefully nicer, desk.
