Wedding jewelery still safely tucked away.

Yay for that!! It is still horrible that someone was in your house though. :( I had a break-in occur when I lived out in the country with roommates. A bunch of redneck meth addicts broke in while we were asleep. They even nabbed my roommates favorite pair of jeans that were lying on the floor instead of just taking the wallet out of the back pocket.

This won't help now, but for anyone else that is worried I've had a few ideas since I've had this happen. I have heard that Dollar Tree or somewhere else cheap has these little alarms you can put on windows and doors. I haven't seen them yet, but they sound great.

Also, I bought an $8 plug switch thing from Walmart that I used to turn my fish tank lights on and off throughout the day. When the fish all died I just started using it on a lamp in the living room. Now it turns on automatically at 6 am and is off by midnight, so even when we're not home for a week it still seems like we are. The other thing that works even better than that is motion sensor lights at your doors and driveways - but when living in a condo or renting that isn't always possible. :(

It is sh##### that WE have to be careful because crackheads will break into our homes. Even if we work hard and try to get live in a better neighborhood we might still be at risk for people invading our space. Did the police indicate that there has been an increase in break-ins in your area? I'm really glad you, Nik, and the cats are all ok!!!

That just sucks ####!!! I'm so sorry! I'm just glad it was 'only' the Wii - but still. It's the peace of mind about more than anything, isn't it? :(

I'm sorry as well, Heather! I definitely agree that it's the loss of security that would bug me the most when I exhausted all available curse words.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good b!tch.
This noble statement is incomplete. It should be "...and to all a good b!tch, si man, si man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Are you sure the gift/MIL isn't snowed in? I'm sure there is mail coming from the Inlaws but I wasn't really surprised when nothing arrived last week given all the closures. Likewise, ours hadn't arrived to them in the usual time frame....

I'm pretty sure. We got ours from her (a fruit cake, LOL) week before Christmas. Hubby talked to her one day last week and she didn't tell him to be looking for anything, or that she was going to be late mailing something, etc. When I told him I found it odd she hadn't bought her anything, he just shrugged.

THANK GOD. MIL did actually send our daughter something but it must be lost. Now I'm just trying to figure out why that family can't communicate any better than that! :bonk: I mean seriously - nearly a week after Christmas before she even mentions that she sent something?? LOL.

I don't know what's up with the post. I've had THREE seperate people say they sent me cards (and one package) for xmas and they are still not here. I sent a package to my mum and she got it within 5 working days. I'm starting to miss the Royal Mail......

We're also waiting for gifts sent from the UK before Christmas ... but I tend to believe it's the Royal Mail's fault!
