Seeing that everyone needs tires, I thought I'd share that I got my new tires today at National Tire and Battery (also known as Merchants, Big O Tires, and Tire Kingdom in other states), and they are having a buy two, get two free sale this weekend from 7 AM to noon. Really good day but tomorrow's the last day, I guess!

Our naturalization timeline
1/12/2015 - Application sent to Phoenix service center by USPS priority mail

1/14/2015 - Package received in Phoenix

1/16/2015 - NOA date (hard copy received 1/22)

1/20/2015 - Check cashed

2/09/2015 - Biometrics

2/11/2015 - In line for interview

3/28/2015 - Hard copy interview notice received

4/29/2015 - Interview at Chicago field office - Approved!!!

5/22/2015 - Oath ceremony - Now a US citizen!!!!!!

I did sent my resume to a contact at ExxonMobile but nothing came of it. My background has primarily been in environmental consulting any the last major client I worked with was Shell Oil Products US (SOPUS) as division of Royal Dutch Shell. They were based in Houston but all of my work was in northwest Pennsylvania and southwest New York state. I helped them close out old liablities, mainly properties which had abandoned oil wells on them so I had to go to courthouses to verify the lease history, go out with a GPS and locate the old abandoned wells, arrange for cable tool drill rigs to come clean out and plug the wells, and then have a PADEP Dept of Oil and Gas inspector inspect the lease and then provide a no further action letter to our client. That job was winding down and I was laid off nearly 2 years ago. Since I also have an MCSE certificate and there is more work in that field, thats what I've been getting back into. Also looking for govt work as a geologist but its tough getting an interview.

As for tires, I have a Toyota RAV4 so hopefully one of the lower priced SUV's to get new tires for. I bought it in 2006 because I wanted an SUV but one that got decent gas mileage.

- 2010 Mar 26 - Apr 15 Met 4th time in person (Fairfax-VA-USA)

- 2010 July 29 Fiancee had medical in London

- 2010 July 30 London Embassy Interview Date (K1 Visa approved pending a laundry list of medial stuff)

- 2010 Nov 2 Courier website shows K1 Visa packet enroute for delivery. 1st indication of final approval!

- 2010 Nov 3 K1 Visa packet delivered by courier! Visa's are in the building and in my fiancees hands! (tentative Jan 2011 arrival)

Have you ever tried looking at www.rigzone.com ? They have a lot of jobs for geologists over there.

Replaced all 4 tires Monday AND had my muffler replaced right up to the catalytic converter thingy jobby yesterday.

$570...BOOOOOOOO!

Good job it's pay day on Friday and my husband is a haggler....or it would have cost even more. :-(

10/02/2009 - EAD Approved (card production) & AP approved!

10/11/2009 - EAD Card received

10/20/2009 - AOS approved, GC card production ordered! (53 days in total)

10/26/2009 - Green Card received - nearly 11 months to the day of our K1 NOA 1!

11/25/2009 - Started my new job!

02/26/2010 - Passed my driving test :-p

07/20/2011 - Eligible to remove conditions

2012 - Going for citizenship

09/20/2011 - Removal of conditions submitted to VSC....here we go...again!

It's been a quick and relatively painless journey thanks to tireless research, dumb luck and this community :)

DONE with USCIS for a while :)

Good job, thats decent I guess for four tires and a muffler. I was looking at mine recently. The Toyota RAV4 was bought new in 2006 and there is significant rust on the bottom. Gotta love central NY winters. My brakes wore out early due to the salt also. Good riddence Syracuse!

Yes, I lived in Liverpool, suburb of Syracuse for about 15 years. Lovely summers, a great park to roller blade but the winters were, well... for the penguins and polar bears! Hard on cars too!
