I'd be interested to know if this breakdown was included in a translation to your future wife and how she felt about it.

I'm Pretty sure she'll feel the way she's told to feel about his finacial situation and everything else

You forgot that once married, your husband will pay LESS tax ! Money is saved...

Oh god stop :lol:ROFLMAO..... you've probably just made his day, im sure if polygamy wasn't against the law (in most states) he'd buy many foreign women and marry them to save money.

Justin,

Not.

- The travel expenses may or may not apply to many of us. Although I met my wife on the internet I had for several years been taking my vacations in her country - meeting her just changed the details of how I spent my vacations.

- My monthly expenses due to long-distance courting did not increase anywhere near as dramatically as indicated. Wise shopping can be applied to these items as well as to the local supermarket or mall.

- The marriage-related expenses are not immigration related - they apply whether one marries a USC or a foreigner.

I guess my husband doesn't love me as much as this guy loves his bride to be, he only 'invested' less than 3g's for me.

What a load of bullpucky, is this article supposed to make the foreigner feel guilty or somehow indebted?

I think so, yes. However, giving the benefit of the doubt, I'm going to believe that this was a worksheet to show an "entitled" fiance that there just wasn't any way he could send her $1000/month in "Fiance Support".

Otherwise, yes.... looks like a receipt for a purchase. Looking at mine, it seems I got quite the bargain! I'll be sure to tell Sian tonight what a frugal shopper I am, since I "got" her for MUCH less than a Russian bride would have cost. LOL!

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Great article? :P Are you going to flash this in her face every time she thinks of leaving you? Or perhaps you should save it for the family court judge when it comes time to explaining why you should not pay alimony.

While individual costs do vary, it may be prudent to estimate your costs based on these categories.

I know I sure as heck didn't spend $23,000 for my "foreign groom," since I didn't make nearly that much money until just before he got here, but I'm sure if I added up all the costs throughout our relationship, the amount would be more than I expected.

As per the article in the original post, something about the style of the writing grated me the wrong way. It's an interesting concept though.

10/14/05 - married AbuS in the US lovehusband.gif

02/23/08 - Filed for removal of conditions.

Sometime in 2008 - Received 10 year GC. Almost done with USCIS for life inshaAllah! Huzzah!

12/07/08 - Adopted the fuzzy feline love of my life, my Squeaky baby th_catcrazy.gif

02/23/09 - Apply for citizenship

06/15/09 - Citizenship interview

07/15/09 - Citizenship ceremony. Alhamdulilah, the US now has another american muslim!

Good lord. Maybe I should count the computer I purchased for school if we're nickel-and-diming the foreign brides. I mean, I used it to type an e-mail to my boyfriend, so I guess that means I spent $1400 to e-mail him!!!11one!!

I also can't wait to purchase him English lessons, because they speak Canadian up north, eh? ;)

The original article seems like it should end 'And if the B*tch ain't grateful present her with an invoice because You Da Man.'

It kinda grabbed me that way too. And what of the cost (immeasurable) to the many that give up their homeland, their family and friends, all that is familiar, to be with the one they love in the US. I doubt many throw that in the face of their USC fiance. Why, because it dont matter when all that is wanted is to be with the person they love.

I'd like to give the dude the benefit of the doubt. Maybe in a round-about way he was trying to figure out a meaningful way to explain the cost of living in America. I know that as I prepare my info for the I-134 form, the first thing that ocurred to me was also attach a spread-sheet of my normal monthly expenses too, so that she had a way gauging what the figures meant. Some countries are just so much worse-off than America that it is very easy for foreigners to simply assume we all roll in the dough like Bill Gates. I'm just a librarian who doesn't make much money, but I probably earn in 30-minutes of work what my fiancee does in a 60-hr work week. So, if she only looks at the numbers on the I-134 without a frame of reference, who knows what she might think?
