More power to the OP who can afford all that.

We went through immigration process too - the situation might be different but I do not think we spent that much because of stuff we choose to do differently (ring, honeymoon, wedding) or stuff we do not have to do (translation services).

Hot topic! :lol: I appreciated some of the tone in the article, because in SOME countries the beneficiary seems to just assume us Americans have an endless supply of money to throw at them.

Every case is different, but the expenses in the report I think are really exaggerated. With take home of about $17,000 a year (renting an apartment and old used car paid off), I bore the entire expenses of the visa/AOS process AND supported hubby completely in India for 5 months after he got laid off from his job. That all with no loans, even now. Now he has a job and is helping with household expenses so I'm glad the tight days are over! :thumbs:
