I-131 issues

Hi there...

I have another question. I'm working on my I-131 (Request for travel document) and I'm a bit confused about a couple of questions... In Part 3.1 they ask for the "Date of Intended Departure" I don't really have an specific date... I just want to have it in case I have to travel out of the US... What should I write?

On Part 7 it asks to "explain how you qualify for an Advance Parole Document", etc... What should I say here? That I'm applying for AoS and that I might have to travel out of the country? In the same part, they ask how many trips I'm planning to take... How should I know now? What do you think I should say?

Also, on Part 1.3. It asks for my "Class of Admission"... Should that be B-2 since I arrived as a visitor to the US or F-1 (Since I later changed my status to student)?

Thanks guys...

Sorry about the frustration...

Hi guys!

Just trying to get this discussion higher into the forum. Responses will be greatly appreciated. I also have one more question... Should I ask for the AP document for one trip or for more than one trip?

Thanks!

"TBD = to be determined"

On Part 7 it asks to "explain how you qualify for an Advance Parole Document", etc... What should I say here? That I'm applying for AoS and that I might have to travel out of the country? "That I'm applying for AoS and that I might have to travel out of the country?" is a good start.

Also, on Part 1.3. It asks for my "Class of Admission"... Should that be B-2 since I arrived as a visitor to the US or F-1 (Since I later changed my status to student)?

Whatever your current status is right now.

Thanks guys...

Sorry about the frustration...

Should I ask for the AP document for one trip or for more than one trip?

The AP is good for multiple trips - within the limit of the AP (granted for one year usually)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

For date and length of trip write Unknown.

How many trip just tick the "more than one trip" box. Better safe than sorry. If you tick the single trip box your form will most likely say that on it and you will only be able to use it the once. Mine (ticked "more than one trip") says "This application is valid for multiple applications for parole into the United States during the validity period noted above". I haven't seen the other type.

For Part 7 you don't attach anything to explain anything. As you are filing for AOS this is your method of qualifying for the AP document. It's mentioned in the I-131 instructions.

Part 1.3 is B2 as you said because you arrived (hence were "admitted") into the US on a B2 visa.

**moved from "AOS(Other)" to "Working and Traveling during US immigration" as this is a question related to the AP document**
