My finacee says she has no record for the shots she received in China. She is 40. She has not been scheduled for her k-1 medical yet. I want her interview and future AOS to be as hassle free as possible. She will receive a letter in the P4 from the consulate concerning the vaccinations, and I quote from the letter:

" United States immigration law requires immigrant visa applicants to obtain certain vaccinations (listed below) prior to the issuance of an immigrant visa.

INSTRUCTIONS AND PROCEDURAL GUIDANCE

Panel physicians who conduct medical examinations on behalf of immigrant visa applicants are required to verify that immigrant visa applicants have met the new vaccination requirement, or that it is medically inappropriate for the visa applicant to receive one or more of the listed vaccinations:

DT/DTP/DTaP, Td, Polio (OPV/IPV), Measles (or MR or MMR), Mumps (or MMR), Rubella (or MR or MMR), Rotavirus, Hib (Haemophilus Influenzae Type B), Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Meningococcal, Varicella, Pneumococcal, Influenza.

Applicants for immigrant visas at the U.S. Consulate Guangzhou must obtain an international vaccination record from one of the PRC Quarantine Bureau offices listed below. If you have already received some or all of the required vaccinations, you should bring your previous vaccination records to the Quarantine Bureau for verification and transfer to your international vaccination record. Physicians at the Quarantine Bureau offices can determine which of the listed vaccinations are medically appropriate for you, given your age, medical history, and current medical condition. Only vaccinations verified or administered at the authorized Quarantine Bureau offices will be accepted by the Consulate." END OF QUOTE

Is it really that simple that, if she acquired the bolded shots listed above, she will be good to go for the interview and future AOS insofar as shots are concerned?

Also, can she get some of these listed shots at the medical exam itself?

Thanks for your help.

ya, there's another list of shots for AOS and the I-485 'process'

Suggest you tell her -

Pay extra for the Yellow 'International Shot Record Book' whilst at the Medical Exam - is between 20 to 100 RMB. The people there will transcribe her shot information to the shot record. Hold on to the shot record book, it does NOT go into the sealed medical envelope, it is yours to keep.

Then later, after the interview, finish up with the rest of the shots that will be needed for AOS, having those shots transcribed into the International Shot Record Book (Yellow Book)

Also note that that bolded list - are age specific, as well - a 40 year old woman won't get what a 25 year old woman will get.

I'm not up on the 'disparity' between what ya get for a K-1 vs what's needed for AOS - hopefully someone else will chime in ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Since a K-1 is classified as a non-immigrant visa your fiancée will not actually need to get the required vaccinations prior to her interview, visa issuance or even entry into the US - she will just need to have them done prior to filing for AOS. My wife was a K-1 as well and we decided to just wait and have all of her vaccinations done after she arrived in the US. All of those vaccinations listed on the P4 letter are age specific - so your fiancée will not be required to get all of them. My wife is 33 and was required to only get 3 of them: DTP, MMR and Varicella - these are the only vaccinations that most women 18-55 are usually required to have.

I see. Thanks. I was hoping to avoid a "vaccination" problem after she arrives here. Somewhere I read about problems with the form after person arrives here in the U.S. I think the form is a 163 or something. But it has to do with the "vaccination portion." The problem is, is that the doctors here want to do an ENTIRE medical, not just the vaccination portion. I read that many doctors here really don't know how to do this form. That is the potential problem I am trying to avoid. 2 or 3 shots here in the U.S. don't worry me, it's getting it documented in a painless fashion for the AOS that worries me. But I am not clear on this topic, so I have to study this. Maybe I just worry to much.

Thanks so much for your reply. It's much appreciated.
