My husband received his biometrics letter today for Grand Rapids, MI. Has anyone else had experience with a walk-in attempt at Grand Rapids, MI? I would like to go with him but I start teaching next Thursday.

I saw one note in an AOS of status thread from 2009 that a "Grand Rapids" was empty. Anybody else done their biometrics at Grand Rapids, MI?

My husband did his biometrics in Grand Rapids on July 9th, 2010. Our appointment was scheduled for 3pm but we arrived at 2:20 and we were pretty much the only people there. We were able to get right in and I think we were out at something like 2:30. Very easy! I'm not sure if they are always this open, or if it just happened to be the day we were there. If you're not too far away, why not try walking in? The worse they can say is no! Good luck!

My husband's walk in attempt was successful. We arrived at 10:15, filled out an information sheet after the security guard checked my husband's hands, then the security guard asked if my husband could be fit in. Security guard came back and told us that my husband would be worked in. One of the biometrics technicians went on break at 10:20. We waited until she came back since the other technician called another fellow who was in the set of 70 chairs facing the TV. We were in a set of 15 chairs facing the back of the TV. Another man was with us to start but got called into an interview room. Another family of 4 came in seated with us filling out the information form. Three of them got to sit facing the TV and the mother was taken into the interview room. My husband got invited to have his biometrics done by the lady technician once her break was over at 10:35. By 10:45 my husband was done And we were out of there. All very quick. Another 2 people were coming in as we were leaving. Why they have 70 chairs facing a TV is a mystery.

Since your appointment is so close, I wouldn't worry about trying to do a walk-in especially given the drive. I just wanted to post something to let people know that we were successful and maybe inspire someone else to get a jump start on biometrics if they want to.

Thought I'd just update. I had my biometrics taken at Grand Rapids yesterday, we left early to assure getting there on time, so I ended up going in @ one hour before my appointment time.

The office was very quiet and there were only 2 people waiting ahead of me and one being processed, I ended up being finished a half hour or so before my original appointment time.
