Ghani just interviewed. I guess we are on AP. They told him they would review our documents and call him. They gave him a green paper. What does the green paper mean? Anyone know?

He said they asked him MANY MANY MANY questions. About me and our relationship... of course... and about my friends and family... of course... but also about if he's ever seen me naked, if we have sex, when we started having sex and why he wants to marry a fat woman. I'm humiliated.

are you SERIOUS??? that is bullshite! I would be both humiliated and irate!

I think you should make a formal complaint both to the embassy and to the state dept. today.

I think you're confusing Mandy with Danni. Danni is engaged to Hamza, Mandy is engaged to Ghani. :)

Still speechless and shocked about that CO.

It does seem to be the prevalent opinion of COs in MENA countries that plus-sized USC women are "vulnerable prey" to MENA men. I remember Joe Scarborough once said on his show that "Fat American women are the biggest importers of Arabic men."

I am so very sorry :( I agree with Sara that you should definitely file a formal complaint. But I wouldn't stop there. You should contact the embassy and ask to speak to a manager? supervisor? Well find out if anyone is over that CO and demand to know what right he had to make a statement like that. Not just a statement regarding your personal appearance, but such bold questions about your love life? :wow:

While that may be their opinion and I do understand it is sometimes the case that visa seeking rats prey on overweight women, it's by no means appropriate for him to state that. And weight or looks in and of themselves in my opinion (not that my opinion counts, as I'm not the CO) are not grounds for a denial. If there were other reasons, those would have been the reasons to state or to state they do not believe in the validity of their relationship. But to attack her looks or make inquiries into their sexual activity does not seem reasonable at all to me.

NOBODY, NOBODY has the right to make such discusting comments, I dont care if they are friggin government, I would report her to the director of USCIS in Washington. Its humuliating!!! Im so sorry Mandy, so sorry Hon.

Hey - sorry about that - but - they're fishing for fraud. It's totally different approach, compared to UK citizen interviewing in London. But, it is what it is.

Granted, the questions asked were overboard, and you should get in touch with both the Inspector General's office and the Ombudsmans office. Whilst yer waiting for that, though, prepare a detailed 'transcript' with yer man, of the interview itself - do it whilst it's still fresh in his mind. You'll need that, later, to include with the reports that yer filing . (If you do decide to complain, that is)

I agree!!!!

Mandy, I would be on that phone with someone until they are so sick of hearing my voice!!!! I would hope that these

questions could not be asked by any CO. It's more than humilitating....it's beyond the rules. Don't be intimidated by them.

I am just beyond words. I'm furious. I can imagine how he felt and then having to tell you. Beyond any explanation.

I am so sorry Mandy.

Oh Mandy, I am so sorry! Do not be humiliated! Get MAD!! How dare they say things like that to your fiance! Regardless of being wary of fraud, what was asked at Ghani's interview is pure derogative!!!

I hope you take the advice that people are putting on here and definitely report this CO!

I think Darnell hit it on the head with what you should be doing. Definitely get some kind of "transcript" of the questions that was asked from your fiance while it's still fresh!!

Mandy - so sorry your fiance was treated like this ... all I can say is that it seems par for the course in Algeria these days ... ahemm..

ANYWAY -- you may want to hold off on doing anything or calling anyone to complain about this until AFTER he has his visa in hand or actually has his foot on US soil. My fiance was asked some pretty racey questions as well during his interview - not quite like yours but close - I was soooooo upset!!! When my congressmans liason called for an update after the interview I told her what happened and how upset I was over the questions and what was said she was dumbfounded to say the least but did offer the piece of advise I just gave you. It's unfortunate that these people hold your life in their hands right now ... but they do .... So -- try to let it roll off your back, put a smile on your face and try to push through.

I do believe the embassy is trying to use the tactic of provoking the beneficiary so they blow up during the interview.... IDK -- just my opinion.

I wish you guys luck!!

No - it is definitely not appropriate to say anything of the sort, but I do believe that the MENA COs are on a tear to get people frazzled and absolutely do not appear to care if they offend. One other thing...the questions that are asked by the COs at the US Embassies are some of the very same questions asked during a Stokes interview at an AOS interview. Just sayin'.

I understand what you are saying. I know that they try to get people riled up on purpose. I've heard in many MENA interviews the question of religion is one that they attempt to use. Examples include: "How does your family feel about you marrying a non Muslim? " or "As a Muslim are you not required to have and raise Muslim children?" etc .. or if it's obvious that the petitioner can no longer bare children and the beneficiary is young, they might ask about the inability to have children, etc.

I really did think that the only thing the consular could ask in regards to sexual information was if the marriage had been consummated. I remember reading that somewhere before. I am trying to find concrete information on it now, but alas everything I find is only the opinion of someone, but doesn't seem to have any evidence behind it.
