conditional vs. permanent resident

What is the difference between Conditional Permanent Resident and permanent resident?? What can you do with one that you can't do with the other? what are they good for?

CR - after 2 years you need to apply for removal of condition. Costs money, time, hassle. If marriage fails before condition is removed, extra hassle, possible trip back home

IR - this is it. If marriage fails, you can even apply for naturalizations, but need to wait 5 years

I am still confused after reading that link. My husband came to the US on a K-1 visa, we got married, now at our AOS interview, will he be a permanent residence or conditional permanent resident when he gets his green card??

If you have been married for 2 years or more on the day your adjustment of status is approved, it will not be conditional. Less than 2 years and it will be conditional.

After my AOS interview (came here under K-1 visa), I got my GC with a PERMANENT RESIDENT written on the card. According to the officer who interviewed us, if we fail to apply within a period of time (90 days before expiration of GC) for the Removal of Conditional Residence, the conditional permanent resident status will be terminated automatically and will be subject to deportation from USA. The rights, priveleges, responsibilities and duties, which apply to all other permanent residents, apply equally to a conditional permanent resident.
