I'm honestly disappointed sometimes with how aggressive some posts are. VJ is like a huge family...We all have our different personalities or traits that make us at times lovable, at times annoying...but we need to keep showing respect.

There seems to be a certain amount of trolling going on involving the UK forums to the point where nearly every thread, including threads that ARE viable and helpful to others are being shut down because of a few members who consistently harass people.

Hi ! welcome to the 'established krewe behavior'. It's deplorable, isn't it? One thing you (and anyone else) can do - is to report each post that is in violation of the TOS. With enough reports on the same people, supposedly these people get suspended for some time. With enough reports made, the admin has enough substantianted evidence to permanently suspend the accounts of the violaters.

Sure, it's a PITA to go through this, but in my mind, I'm happy to report such violations , each and every time.

It's sad, that flipside, yes? of a thread being locked down - but until this 'krewe' is gone, absent, you (and anyone else) should get pro-active on 'chasing them' till they are absolutely gone from VJ.

Darnell, with all due respect (foolishly, maybe), you have NO idea what went down in that thread that Jill at least began this thread talking about (though discussion seems to have drifted a bit to VJ at large). It's very simple: some people doled out tough love, with no mocking and no TOS violations. None. The OP didn't like that she wasn't being wrapped in cotton wool and fed back exactly what she wanted to hear so she took her ball and went home. How that fits in to your fantasies of "krewes" (really?) I have no idea. You bandy about that nasty little word (such as it is) every time someone doesn't act exactly as you would have them. When people violate TOS, fine, report them. But when people merely say things which you personally find are merely indecorous and somehow not befitting of VJ, you really need to cool it. Being cruel in the upper fora is another matter altogether compared to OT, and we all know that.

Hey, wanna report this as a violation? Go ahead, report me and my "krewe" -- I'd love to know the nail on which you intend to hang "us."

The OP asked for it to be closed and invisibilised. That's her prerogative. I can understand the closure, but the removal is over the top in my opinion. Still, her prerogative.

There are PLENTY of new threads that survive. Clearly we are reading different versions of VJ.

Some of those had potential to turn into sh!tstorms but they didn't. So we had some topics closed, BFD. The UK sub-forum has never been all hugs and girlie sleepovers, but it is still a supportive, informed and intelligent (for VJ) place. Let's keep it that way by respecting, as you have pointed out yourself, that we have differing points of view on style. The substance of posts, though, should be respected. It follows that those of us who have been on there for years might have a bit more perspective on how things work. I don't give a sh!t if someone calls DOS 8,453 times a day, but I have the right to point out that a) it's pointless and b) stress-inducing. How do I know this? I did it too, and I watched other people after me do it too. It doesn't do anything, doesn't even make you "feel better" in a nebulous way. The advice at that point, since it was clear the OP didn't want to take it, was out there more for others who might read the thread after and actually think before calling DOS repeatedly. However, with the thread gone, that advice is absent. Oh well. Such is VJ.

Which is the whole point of my original posting! Tell us the who what and why, and hopefully threads won't be removed that are releveant.

You and I do at least agree that the thread had potential to help in some ways.
