So after having the religious ceremony and while on honeymoon, I got a call from the In-laws saying we got a letter stating we have an interview in Juarez on the 27th of aug. I looked at the category type and it is for the K-3 visa. Did i get very lucky or am I going to have bad news in Juarez on the 27th???

I wouldn't say that the K-3 is 'very lucky' since, when granted, there is a heafty adjustment of status fee attached.

Where is your I-130? Have you done anything in the way of submitting documents to it?

Good luck

Hold on a second here. Are you saying that both your I-130 and I-129F were approved on June 24 by USCIS, and the NVC processed your I-129F??

You better contact the NVC and check that they haven't made a mistake. Their own procedures dictate that they will close the K-3 application if both I-130 and I-129 are approved and forwarded to them simultaneously. Not to mention the hefty AOS fee for K-3, as Canadian_wife says ...

Edit: I should add - if money ain't an issue, take whatever interview they are offering your wife and get her in the country!

Oh - I'd be calling DoS Hotline (# in my profile) and checking, just to be sure.

You'll need the CJ casefile # (usually NVC has this) on the I-129F - give that to the DOS Hotline Human -

then inquire for case status.

If an appointment date on the K-3 has been set, that DoS Hotline Human will tell you.

THEN - if you really got appointment date - WOW ! Congratulations !!!

Also - review this thread - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/264972-shortcuts-when-checking-for-updates-from-the-nvc-and-dos/

it has contact #'s in the first post, and then look for my post there, tells you what info you can recieve, and from whom.

Good Luck ! I'm anxious to hear any news about 'confirmed K-3 appointment date from DOS Hotline Human' telephone call !

about the money... even though it will be an issue since I got drained for the wedding I want to do what ever is the fastest method to bring my wife here, so be that i have to pay that amount then so be it.

Yes both my I-129F and I-130 forms were accepted on the same day i got the letters for both on the same day and with the same post date. I don't know why it worked out that way or if their is a glitch in the system but well see what happens.

I called the DoS hot-line and asked to verify if this documentation and appointment was for the K-3 and he responded yes, don't be late and good luck. SO know I'm looking at all the other things I will need.

I was looking at the vaccinations and their prices WHOA!!! these clinics are making some money!!!

I almost wonder by phoning the NVC if you could be alerting them to the issue, and then they'd close the K3 ap due to the phone call. I wondered that when I phoned...like I informed them, and because of it they closed it. Just a gut feeling though. I heard from my atty that some K3 apps were getting through to consulates in Canada, but then the consulate was deciding to follow up and close them down. If your K3 has made it to the consulate, I would be happy, go to the meeting, and pretend like no one is closing K3 apps at the NVC. It will be interesting to find out how it goes! Of course this depends on how difficult it would be for you to travel to the appointment.

Lucky you

Then don't stir the pot by calling NVC. Just show up to the interview and get the K-3 done. At least you two will be together quickly!!!

I really don't understand why people give the K3 so much credit. If you really look at it in detail, almost anyone who had their petition approved by the USCIS in late June and followed the NVC shortcuts, or not, would've gotten a late August, early September interview. People tend to ignore the fact that by paying all NVC bills online and printing out the worksheets directly from their site, you fly through the process like nobody's business and end having an interview pretty much as if you had filed for a K3. And I'm not exaggerating.

That's true. But if I had a K-3 interview lined up, I'd take it anyday rather than wait for NVC to process my green card. Maybe that's just me - one in the hand better than 2 in the ...

As a whole the K3 may not be superior for some, but for others like myself the K3 would have been so much better in our situation. First of all the CR1-IR1 interview wait times are starting to really back up. About 4-5 months after the consulate receives the approved paperwork from what I understand. That is much slower than a K3 would have been for us.

Then there's the thing that frustrates me that we live an hour away from Vancouver's consulate, but they don't process CR1/IR1's, so now we need to book a flight to Montreal rather than a K3 visa close to home.

This is true and that's why everybody needs to do their homework before filing for a visa. There are some embassies that back up the whole process because they simply don't have enough room to accommodate everybody for an interview. The USCIS and NVC processes are still the same for everybody though but nothing much anyone can do once it goes to the embassy. However, most embassies don't have that issue which makes total sense to file for a CR1.

now THAT would be a thread i would be watching

if you gave your info (receipt #s, full name, etc) to anyone on VJ under the guise that they would "help" you through the immigration journey with his inside contacts (like his sister at USCIS) ... please contact OLUInquiries@dhs.gov, and go to http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact to report anything suspicious. Contact your congressman and senator's offices as well.
