If you are already married you can apply for a spousal visa from VN.. Check the VN regional as it has been discussed a few times this year... I'll move this to the VN regional and I suspect another VN member will remember the exact link for the visa app...

your wish is my command.

I used this site to get my visa on arrival. They were quick and effecient, I got my approval letter within a few days.

$14 fee plus $25 stamp fee at the airport in VN

Add to that 7 bucks for passpot photos, it would cost 46.00 for this process.

I think travel agencies knock 50.00 of the price of the ticket if you don't get a visa through them.

Have fun price shopping.

Or you can always go through a travel agent!

The travel agent still has to send the passport to the VN embassy to get the visa applied. Unless you happen to live reasonably close to one of the two embassies (Washington DC, and San Francisco), the travel agent is still going to use a courier to send the passport to the embassy.

I'm fortunate that I live close to San Francisco. The travel agent I use has their own driver to goes to the embassy to deliver and pick up passports a few times a week.

My travel agency in Little Saigon, SoCal just needed a photocopy of my passport and driver's license to get the Visa. I never set foot into the travel agency until I went there to pick up my ticket and visa.

make sure to send a recent photo. the travel agency i used used the passport photo for the visa. the officer at TSN airport hassled me about the photo because it's an older photo, and i lost some weight, so it looks a little different. he insisted it wasn't me, and asked two others there, finally, one of the others stamped the visa.

I have used a visa service in HCM city several times. http://www.vietnam-immigration.org or contact direct at visa3@visa-vietnam.org . You can pay online. The last time my Fiance went to the office and paid the fee 180,000vnd about 10usd then I recieved an emailed conformation which you must print and have with you when you board the plane in USA and have with you in the airport in VN. the downside is you have to be patient and wait for them to prepare the visa at the airport. You must have a passport type photo to attach to the airport application that you fill out in the airport and 25usd. You will be the last one to baggage claim so you should have no trouble finding your bags. another good side to this is you can do it within 24 hours of your arrival. I also saved some money printing my own passport type photos. VN is not as stricked as US on quality.

Good luck to all,

Fred

If you're Vietnamese, this is usually because there's no coffee money folded into the passport. My immigration guy actually asked "Do you have a gift for me?"

If you are married, file for visa exemption, it is $30 USD and the visa is good for 5 years, the key is that if you are planning on staying for longer than 90 days at a time you will either need to pay $10 and fill out a form, or go to cambodia. The 5 year visa is designed to make people register every 90 days that are not Vietnamese citizens, so in theory they can keep track of people. If you do not feel like doing this right now the other option is visa on arrival, do a google and get a link, as some have said, they charge about $20 for their service, some less some a bit more, the total is usually around $50 then when you arrive depending on if it is 30 days or 90 days you would pay $25 or $50 in USD at the window in HCMC, and make sure as others have said to bring 2 passport photos with you. The process is pretty simple and painless, they email you an invitation letter, this gets you through all the airports and into the country, you take that letter to the window, fill out another form, pay them in USD and they put the visa in your passport while you wait. Good luck! Jerome
