What do you drink to celebrate?

What are the most frequent crimes associated with excess alcohol consumption? I would imagine fighting is high on the list but not all drunks become aggressive and want to start fights but some do - my contention is that these people are more than normally aggressive when sober as well. I don't think that drinking makes people aggressive, I think drinking prevents them from exerting the control they exert when sober that stops them from fighting.

Most of what you are saying makes sense. But there are a couple problems.

You seem to be trying to imply that Christians and others who take a position against alcohol believe that a person is absolved from responsibility for the things they do while drinking. I haven't met many people who believe that. I certainly don't think anyone on this thread is trying to say or imply that. So stop trying to disprove this position that no one has taken.

Secondly, just because a person doesn't instantly lose all concept of right and wrong after downing a beer doesn't mean that alcohol doesn't impair judgment. And the fact that a person choses to abstain from alcohol and maintain self control, judgment, and decision making ability doesn't mean that person has underlying issues they are trying to hide or secret impulses that need to be suppressed. It just means they understand that intentionally consuming substances that impair your judgment has its downsides (namely impaired judgment).

Drink driving, fights. Even rapes.

I think that when people get drunk enough they simply don't care about the moral dimension of things.

are you suggesting that drunken people can do rapes ?

not on Timmy Taylor they can't

Lucky if they can find it

I don't agree. I think the people that don't care never care, drunk or sober. I simply don't agree that drinking removes morality from ones consciousness - what it does do is remove the restraint they normally exert over themselves to prevent them from doing things they know other people do not approve of, it's that that drunkenness removes, the restraint brought about by the approbation of others, what it does not do is turn someone from being moral to amoral.

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Impaired judgment is not impaired morality, it's the ability to make a depth perception judgment, by the way of an example. Why do people get confused on this issue of judgment?

If you believe that a normally moral person is capable of immorality simply by virtue of being drunk, you are taking away their personal responsibility for that action and placing it on the drink - which is a christian perspective allegedly.
