Oh. Sorry. I forgot. Brown people don't count as "real" immigrants. Excuse me.

They're not first world immigrants. I asked how many from the first world.

So are you arguing about the plight of middle-America or the plight of Jersey? Make up your mind here.

Both actually, Jersey is a dump versus the rest of the first world. The mid-west died when manufacturing left. It's why it looks like a rusted out ghost ship.

Here's the first one that popped up, and it's right here in Cincinnati. Plight? I thought you were saying something about plight...

http://www.sibcy.com/viewlisting.asp?mls=1206262&b=CIN&p=RESI&s=COND&m=1&sender=SearchResults&a=26-E-Sixth-St-801-City-OH-45202

So Condos are $600k but the median house price is $158K. The Median house price barely covers the deposit overseas.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Careers means here for a few years and then out.

I don't know. I came here from a first world country - not a shabby place at all. Yes, came here for marriage reasons but that marriage didn't last. Following the divorce, I considered for some time whether to stay or return. Pros and cons either way. It was the career that kept me here. And I haven't regretted that once. From the time I made the decision to stay until now (just about a decade now), I have had a hell of a ride career-wise. And yes, the next upward move is just around the corner.

With all the things that Germany has going for it - and that's a damn long list -, the rapid upward mobility available here just isn't to be found there. That very reality will keep America relevant as a destination for people from other first world countries.

I know quite a few people from England and Ireland at the company I work in right now. Of course, I know even more people from Russia but is Russia first world? I'm not sure it counts, even though the Russians I work with are easily leaps and bounds smarter than the English I work with.

You said people want to move to Sydney. Which people would those be?

It would also barely cover the deposit on that condo. And your point is......

I never said no one wants to migrate here, as everyone has their own reasons. That said, if you have a look at the immigration stats, the majority of immigrants come from second and third world countries.

That's true for Western Europe and Australia as well. Naturally, people try to move up economically not down.

It is what it is, instead of hating me or denying the reality that the US now ranks poorly versus the rest of the first-world, do something about it. Unfortunately hating on the messenger does nothing to rectify the US's position. As doesn't pretending the US is still the leader of anything, other than GDP and Military.

Oh - but I've been patently ignoring yer blatherings for some time, and actually 'doing something about it' prior to yer arrival in the USA. You'll not find 'many' posts where I'm 'hating on the messenger', especially when YOU'RE the messenger.

I'm set, not need to 'expand my reach' so that 'my position' gets echoed in the US's position. I'm happy with my mileau, and it's never 'the status quo'.

My apologies if you think I'm attacking you personally - I just wanted to clarify a bit about 'why yer in the USA' - as the do-all, be-all, end-all, for a Multi-National-Corporation - is to transfer the talent to where it can do the most good - and I wanted to be clear on that, for yer presence in the USA. It's not a personal attack, at all.

Please don't subconsciously intend to put words in my mouth, along the lines of 'pretending the US is still the leader of anything, other than GDP and Military', as I'm not one of those that actively engage with you, here, on this debate topic.

Going forward - hei ! What is your personal opinion on what's going to happen to General Liu next week, when the sh*t hits his personal fan?

is Russia first world?

Depends on who you're talking to. If you're talking to anyone who's been there, then yes, it's a first world country.

If you're talking to someone on the VJ OT forum who lives in America and owns handguns yet constantly tries to tell everyone guns are a problem and AUS is so much better than here, then no, it's not a first world country because a countries first world status is based on GDP and Russia doesn't have a high enough GDP. (Or quality of life, for that matter.)

You said people want to move to Sydney. Which people would those be?

Yes, Slim, hence their high property price.

Isn't everyhwere a dump vs. Australia?

No, I just reference Australia as I know them best. Reality is that most yank cities rankly quite poorly when compared to others abroad. You can read up on it if you choose. Or you could leader the mid-west and visit them.

By the way, have you ever even been to the mid-west?

Yes I travel for work. Great people there, but the place has taken a massive dive.

It would also barely cover the deposit on that condo. And your point is......

Quoting extremes is not the norm. Then again, you have a knack for doing this, as you do in gun discussions. Go research the median house price or condo price in Cincinnati, then get back to me.

I just looked up immigration statistics for Aus and US and Heracles is correct. More people from the UK move to Aus every year than move to the US. And the top two source countries for Aus are first world countries, NZ and UK. India and China are #'s 3 and 4 though so it's not like Aus is immune to the third world hordes.

Depends on who you're talking to. If you're talking to anyone who's been there, then yes, it's a first world country.

By which metric could that opinion be justified?

I am saying this as someone with absolutely no knowledge of Russia whatsoever. So this isn't a challenge.

Logical people base opinions like that on research and direct comparison, rather than personal opinion.

For example: in terms of Human Development, Russia ranks 71, US 13 [and dropping], Australia 2nd
