After contacting the DOS, it was stated that as of July, passport fees increased. Anyone whose applied around May till now will likely have to wait longer. I’m sure there was an influx of passport applications prior to the price increase.

That would probably explain why I’ve been waiting for 11 weeks without word

Passports and renewals have nothing to do with consulat? And because passport fees increased that doesn't change anything at the consulat either...passports are dealt with at the passport offices in the government not at the consul.. Visa stamps are done at the consul.

American Passport fees increased not Canadas as far as I know.

Montreal is slow, cause it's slow. No one really knows the reason. Hopefully you'll hear something soon. Last year it was because of staff shortages, who knows about this year. It's also summer time, people go on vacation n stuff.

Oh I see. I wasn't sure if the U.S. passport increase fees caused an influx of applicants in the months of May and June or whether it would affect the work flow. Don't know much about the Calgary Consulate but I've heard about the griefs of many about the Montreal Consulate. Because I'm living in Canada I applied for a U.S. Passport via the Calgary Consulate. Unfortunately, because I don't have an SSN I can't track the progress of my application.

US passport fees have nothing to do with anything BUT US passports.
