I thought we were done last month when my husband became a citizen, but we are now waiting for his sister's birth certificates. We should have them in about two weeks and then we start a twelve year journey to bring them here. We will probably apply for his parents in 12 years so they can come with the sisters, as they don't seem to really want to come now. See ya'll again in a few weeks.

We just got their birth certificates in the mail. We will be mailing off their applications this weekend. Does anyone know if we should have gotten their wedding certificates too, to explain their name change? The application deos not ask for it, but on the USCIS website it mentions proof of name change.

Has anyone else noticed that in the May 2010 bulletin they were working on May 2000 applications and in the September 2010 bulletin they are working on October 2001. I wonder if they are through some backlog of sibling applications and it is going to speed up now. A few years ago I thought it would be 12 years once we were able to apply for my husband's sisters and now it looks to be 9 years. I hope it keeps shrinking and doesn't go back the other way.

You'll deal with marriage certificates later in the process - NVC stage. I am about to send off applications for my two sisters (a twin and a younger one).

The latest what I've heard is that the reason the bulletin is jumping is that beneficiaries are not going for the visas - the numbers don't get used so they open up numbers to people with later PDs. Perhaps it will even speed up in the next couple of years, you never know. All we can do is sit back and wait.

Interesting, and congrats Kris on your hubby's citizenship. My husband talked about bringing his brother over...so I guess once he gets his citizenship he can apply for him. Does the brother have to be single?-->seeing as how this could take 12 years, anything could happen by then. Also, he was raised by his GRAND parents and not his parents. Could he bring his GRANDparents over?

No for grandparents.

F4 category while filed for a sibling, does allow for the sibling's family -- if married, (spouse and any child(ren) under 21) to receive immigrant visas - this step is completed at NVC later down the road. Same also if the sibling is single but with a child...

I just stuck ours in the regular post with stamps this time. I figured with a nine year wait why worry about when it got there. I figure I drove myself crazy enough with my husband's fillings:-)

I've received 4 text messages and 4 emails last evening - someone doubled them up for some reason but we have the case numbers.
