Hello,

So my case was just received by the NVC and I'm hoping to speed things along. I called and gave the NVC my email address but I have a lawyer representing me. Does this mean my lawyer will receive correspondence?

Does my husband still have to do the Agent of Choice form? What's the next step?

THANKS

with a lawyer in tow, that G-28 filed concurrently with the I-130 -

There is no concept of 'choice of agent' - the lawyer is the agent. Your husband not need to file a DS-3032, is not required at all, since a lawyer is representing the two of you.

However -

if you'd like to process things at NVC - you can -

please review http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/221785-ds-3032-slowdown/page__view__findpost__p__3560467

and ignore all about the DS-3032

IMO, once you've made that phone call into NVC,

then within a coupla days, both fee bills will 'show up' at the online payment portal.

Pay them, then check back a few days later - you should be able to generate the barcoded coversheets from the payment portal.

With the printed barcoded-coversheets, YOU can mail in the AOS and IV document sets, without waiting for lawyer involvement.

Which, of course, will speed things along.

Now then, if yer lawyer is adamant 'to wait on postal notification' - then you should make all efforts to train this attorney about utilising the online payment portal, and just why the F*@*#K 'self-generated barcoded-coversheets' are important. Most attornies who are un-aware of the online payment portal, are also un-aware of the 'self-generated barcoded-coversheets' and why/how to utilise these coversheets, as well. They, instead, will want to wait on 'postal notification' from NVC, and that, in itself, will delay processing at NVC, by up to 9 months, with a total span of 12 months from start to finish. FWIW, those 'self-generated barcoded-coversheets' and the 'ability to print them' is equivalent to 'postal notification from NVC', for 'when to send things IN to NVC'.

If you manage all at NVC, you can be in/out of NVC within 2 to 3 months.

Good Luck !

I was just wondering it took almost 3 months for his case to get to the NVC after approval of I-130. Why is it so?

I'm guessing it took less time, but his 'lawyer' notified him recently.

hi thanks for your help!

my case took so long from the uscis approval to NVC because USCIS apparently forgot to send it and instead stored at the national records center it. I had the whole 90 day obstacle BS and unhelpful people to overcome but I finally was able to get them to resend it and I'm so happy it's finally at the NVC.

So once I pay the bill online and it shows as PAID, NVC sends something in the mail or its available for download online? I'm kind of confused about what you said.
