Can someone please tell me when Ramadan officially begins in the USA? My calendar at work says Tuesday at sundown but my husband works with Muslims and they are beginning tomorrow morning.

Remember - worry looks around, sorry looks back and faith looks up.

Can someone please tell me when Ramadan officially begins in the USA? My calendar at work says Tuesday at sundown but my husband works with Muslims and they are beginning tomorrow morning.

It begins tomorrow at sundown, so fasting should begin Wednesday morning

04/21/10 - Travel to Egypt to meet in person

05/08/10 - Sent I-129F

05/10/10 - VSC receives I-129F

05/11/10 - NOA1

05/13/10 - Touched

05/14/10 - Touched

05/17/10 - Received NOA1 in the mail

07/06/10 - NOA2 - Approved!!!! :)

07/12/10 - Received NOA2 in the mail

07/13/10 - Received at NVC

07/16/10 - NVC changes embassy per our request

07/19/10 - Told we are in AP @ NVC

07/30/10 - Case sent to Cairo embassy

08/05/10 - Case received at embassy

09/07/10 - Received packet 3 - FINALLY!!!

09/15-10 - 2nd trip to Egypt, returned home on 10/5/10

12/14/10 - Received interview date

01/09/11 - 3rd trip to Egypt

01/12/11 - Interview - APPROVED!!!...but AP

01/24/11 - Returned to the states without my habibi :(

04/06/11 - AP was completed!! :)

05/10/11 - Visa has been issued!!!

I tried to contact the Islamic center for the same reason and here is what their webdiste says about that

Alhamdulillah we are nearing the blessed month of Ramadan. On Tuesday, August 10th, the moon will set after the sun sets in most of the world, including Makkah and North America, providing a strong possibility for visibility.

We will carefully monitor for crescent moon sightings and make an official announcement on the IAR website as soon as information is available, but no later than 9:00pm ET on Tuesday, August 10th inshallah.

If we can confirm the new crescent moon sighting, we will begin Taraweeh on Tuesday evening and begin fasting on Wednesday, August 11. However, if we cannot confirm the new crescent moon sighting, then we will complete 30 days of the month of Shabaan and the first day of fasting will be on Thursday, August 12th.

"Ramadan Kareem! Every year may come to you while you are good." <----- That's what my dh said they say to each other in Egypt.

According to the Islamic Centers website for our area, which is the Inland Northwest, they start Ramadan at 5:15 am tomorrow morning with fasting.

Dh says they already started the first day of Ramadan in Egypt.

Here on the west coast of the US, the moon was not sighted tonight (Tuesday) so Ramadan will not begin on Wednesday as expected (and as it started in other parts of the world), but will start on Thursday instead.
