I second that which Lotto said - please let us know the overall outcome of your case. Considering you have only submitted one PCC so far - you are the first on VJ that I know of to try this process out. Good luck - I think you will be just fine !

Here's what packet 4 from the Delhi embassy states: (I don't have packet 4 yet, but its available here):

"POLICE REPORT: Each applicant aged 16 years and older must submit a police certificate that includes information regarding the applicant including all arrests, the reason for the arrest(s) and the disposition of each case(s). (A) Indian citizens residing in India for six months or more since turning 16 years of age must present Indian police clearance certificates from both their district police station and the local area passport office. Applicants whose passports were issued within six months of the visa interview may present just the passport office certificate. These certificates are valid for one year from the date of issuance. (B) If an Indian citizen who has lived in India for at least one year after the age of 16 currently resides outside India, he/she must obtain a certificate issued by the Indian Embassy or Consulate where he/she lives. These certificates are valid for only one year from the date of issuance. "

The key here is that if your passport has been issued within six months of applying for the immigrant visa, then the only pcc needed is from the passport office.

My wife recently obtained hers from the Passport office and that is the only PCC I am submitting (her Passport has been issued within six months of when she'll apply for the visa, fortunately...so I don't have to worry about the other times).

Interested to know how you'll fare. I think with the Passport Office one, you are good to go.

Does this link say, only PP office PCC is enough, if the person's passport is issued for more than 6 months?

LotofPatience, I *think* that if the Passport is older than six months uptil the date of the interview, then you have to get PCCs to cover entire time since after beneficiary turns 16 from the district police station. The only thing I could find on this for Bangalore because I had the same question was here:

I am not really sure to be honest. All I know is that I am still waiting for the District PCC - possibly this weekend it will be issued to my wife, we'll see.

The NVC also told me that they would approve with only the Passport PCC like they told Zeban and smsgrl2009. They said the District PCC was not needed.

I am pretty sure the NVC will approve a petition with only one Passport PCC, but I have chosen to wait because the New Delhi website clearly says both the District and Local PCC are needed - and since I am interviewing in Delhi I will follow that website notice. I am not as familiar with the other embassies as much as Delhi, so maybe the other consulates are more lenient or focus on it less heavily.

I dont know Kaash, i think that you shouldnt take a chance and just submit the local PCC, i dont know if its really worth the hassle of going through are an RFE God forbidding. Since i had already filed for the local PCC im not going to wait.

Wait i just want to clarify something so there is no confusion.

We got married in January, so my wife got her passport first week of march. In fact, I hate the systems in india. It had left the local passport office on february 5th. My wife never received it until march sometime, because the stupid postal office decided to play hide and seek with it. So finally got it first week of march.

So as soon as my wife got it, i gave it to an agent, got the RPO PCC within 2 months. The reason why it took so long, the officer committee who clears passports was concerned because my wife and her father dont share a common surname. So NOW i am looking to get the Local PCC, i already have the RPO. The officer who is helping me is the same officer who cleared my wifes passport for the RPO PCC. He works with the ACP or is the ACP iono. But hes in touch with me, and i told him to get it to me by the end of the week.

Today some guy game for inquiry at my wifes house. Now they are wondering why my name is not on her passport. We said that she had it made before marriage. Apparently she is going to have local PCC interview soon. I really am sick of this inconsistency and ridiculous demands in india. They really need to get their act together over there.

My goodness, If Embassy/NVC does not require local PCC,then I am running around for local PCC for nothing.I have to get PCC from FOUR Districts where I resided more then six months.

I got PCC from Jaipur RPO only within 6 hours. It was very easy comparatively local PCC. I also got Local PCC from two places.

Should I get that rest of the PCCs too?

I do not have my pic. affixed on PCC. Does it matter?
