I was just wondering if its necessary to purchase a return ticket to the US on a K1 visa (once its approved), or are you able to purchase a one way with the K1?

You can purchase a 1 way ticket. A K-1 is a dual intent non-immigrant visa - meaning it is assumed she will be a permanent resident.

However, always advisable not to purchase a ticket until the visa is in hand. A poor woman on the Canada forum is re-booking her flight because her visa package was sent to the wrong address - very costly.

Good luck

You can chose to buy a one-way ticket or a return ticket. One-way tickets are usually more expensive than return tickets, but the choice is yours. Like you have already been advised, do not buy a ticket until u have your visa. Good luck.

onetravel.com had cheap one way tickets

all other sites i have used are very expensive

my advice would be to book a return and use the return leg if u plan to go onvacation in your home town sometime? you can always pay to have it changed nearer the time (approx $250)

also i definitely agree dont book your flight, i almost did when the visa lady said the courier takes 3-5 days. i just called and they told me it could be up to 2 weeks!!!

good luck!
