Today, senators are going to end the debate on immigration bill...

immigration bill will likely pass in the senate with in 2-3 days with the strong majority....now the problem is with house....house Republicans have meeting on immigration bill after recess...and then will come to know about the future of immigration bill in the house...In the house bill needs 218 votes to pass...it will be pretty easy to reach this target..but it all depends upon the house speaker john....see their are 235 Republicans in the house out of which 70 Republicans are apposing any immigration bill..but rest of the members are in favor of this immigration bill.....so lets see .....july 2013 will be hottest month in the Washington DC.....

Senate leaders are currently on track to hold a final vote on the bill itself before Congress breaks for its July 4 recess at the end of the week.

If enacted, the bill would create a path to citizenship for roughly 11 million undocumented immigrants.

"When the immigration bill passes, (GOP Speaker John Boehner) should bring it up for a vote in the House of Representatives quickly," said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada.

"Mr. Speaker, rather than twisting the arms of tea party extremists, just work with moderates from both parties to pass bipartisan legislation."

This Act eliminates F4 category like the CIR does, entirely. But it does not talk about backlog-reduction plan at all. It also reduces family immigration overall by 40,000/year, though it increases the quota for F1 category by some thousands while decreasing F2 category's.

I'm guessing that this Act only deals with the existing legal immigration categories, not necessarily the backlog issue. Maybe a different Act will address that problem in future.
