my sister submitted affidavit of support(I-864) form in Dec 2011 and the NVC accepted it.My P.D is 11 Apr 2002.I wna knw if my Affidavit of Support form will remain valid till my P.D becomes current or do i need to submit a new set of I-864 forms when I'll be called for my visa interview. The NVC also asked to sent the D-230 for myself n my minor children n i've done it.

I'm unfamiliar with that because I haven't gone through that part of the process yet, but I won't be surprised if you have to. When your P.D. is current (or near becoming current), USCIS (or consulate) will contact you and let you know what you need to complete and bring to interview.

FYI, this is an online forum and information therein by no means should be held accountable. Vast majority of people here are those who have gone through similar immigration procedure and are not lawyers, legal consultants, nor government officials; their answers may not be true. For the best response you should visit the American consulate in your country or consult your lawyer, if you have one (if you don't, I suggest you get one).

you should give a minimum of a day's time for replies..secret7vf.gif

In the Immigration Matters.."It is better to be Safe than Sorry"...New DS230 has been asked in every interview...just keep an updated copy of I-864 too..Good Luck..good.gif

Whatever may be the interpretation of the CIR...the legally filed in petitions in any category will not be eliminated rather they will stop accepting new petitions..reading.gif

Not so fast.

Aside the pro-reform report on economic impact of CIR, CBO also reported that the current enforcement measures would only stop 25% of the current level of illegal immigration for the following 10 to 20 years, resulting in 7+ million illegal immigrants having entered the US by 2033.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/jun/18/cbo-immigration-bill-saves-197-billion/

I'd like to be optimistic, but don't be so while looking at just one side of the coin. Economic effect will surely bolster pro-reform sentiment, but this ineffective enforcement measures will balance it out with just as big reinforcement to the conservatives.

We are back to square one with this report. Republicans have always been hard on enforcement and this only fuels their hard-line argument. With the CBO being an authoritative entity on this matter, Democrats now really have to compromise with the Republicans (and their pro-reform supporters) on the enforcement part of the reform.

This is not necessarily a bad news for us who are legally in line but surely is for those who are not (so far the enforcement amendments have been hard on RPI measure, not the legal immigration reform). We can only hope that the Democrats suck it up and stick to the reform looking at the bigger picture, while Republicans pacifying the other side of the aisle with, perhaps, letting RPI program commence (so that the undocumented immigrants can work and their taxes are taken in to bring positive impact on the economy, as CBO projected) while withholding green cards for the undocumented immigrants until the workable border and interior enforcement is fully implemented.

If Democrats really want this issue solved (so to counter the Republican argument that Democrats only want this as a political leverage for 2014 mid-term election and 2016 presidential election), as much as they want illegal immigration to be the "thing of the past" (Schumer), they need to compromise. They should not be the ones delaying this process now. The ball is on Democrats' side of the court, and they better not kick it out of the field.

Senate will pass CIR 2013 at the end of june with majority of republicans....and on the other side Republicans are also working with democrats to boost border security measures in this bill......and hopefully both parties should find the common ground on border security issue...
