Hello, my PD is August 2010 so I am nowhere close to being current as you all are but no doubt you can help going from your past experience.

It's been almost 27 months now since my brother filed the I-130 for me. Obviously I know a visa number takes a decade or so to become available, but how long more do I need to wait for approval of the petition?

I understood this to be around the 2 year mark but we still haven't heard. There's been nothing since we received the Receipt Notice straight after they got the petition. It's the California Service Centre which I believe takes the longest for processing but still, I would expect them to come back with something after a couple of years? I sent them an email but their auto response says they don't give status updates.

I have logged into the USCIS website numerous times too checking "My Case Status", but nothing in the registry beyond saying they got our petition. Would appreciate comments from those who have gone through the California Centre and how long it took for you for approval, though I am not sure if the timeline for more recent years is the same as it was when you all filed yours however many years ago but it would be great to have some idea.

Does anyone have a good number to ring (I will be calling from outside the States) where you can actually speak to someone who can in fact help? I've already tried the number they put on their website for int'l callers (1 785 330 1048) but it doesn't work anymore (no ring tone).

Any other advice/comments/suggestions?

You can check this site: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processingTimesDisplay.do

It's updated once a month. It also provides the number you can call.

For I-130 (all categories), processing time is supposed to be 5 months. You're right. During our time (in my case) it took 7 years to be approved. Taking long is actually advantageous for beneficiaries who are aging out when their PD becomes current.

Thank you for that. The 5 months they put for the Calif Centre is completely untrue because that's more like the national USCIS goal which is NOT the reality of their processing time. I find it really odd they've changed it to a flat 5 months now when previously whenever I log into the USCIS site, they gave an actual date for I-130 processing times.

And their tel no? It is exactly the same one I saw somewhere else where I used the intl no. and that was a dud.

Grr. This is pretty frustrating. You are basically at their mercy and can't ask anything.

The only consolation here is that it really doesn't mean anything to be approved earlier. We still join the same queue for a visa number. So someone in the Vermont Centre could have their I-130 approved in 5 months but mine takes (say) 3 years, both of us still have exactly the same wait-time for our PD to be current.

First of all

I would say , we can't vote for governor romney ,because we aren't national/citizen of USA.

Second thing , if our relatives there in united states vote for governor romney , still it won't help us.

because Mr romney will take charge then his office will put bill in congress and senate , then congress and senate will approve the bill. then that bill will be signed by Future president romney , so it all will take time.

it is a long process.

it will at least take 1-2 years even after mr romney comes.

So it is useless to talk about voting on this issue.

Well now I will tell you my comrades my opinion.

I like governor romney stance for Syria. He said syria is important for USA , to weaken influence of russia and china in the region. sorry to those intending immigrants from russia and china , remember after immigrating you are American first.

any ways.

I like mr romney bold stance for syria and eventually bold stance against russia and china.

He even said On day 1 I will label china as currency manipulator.

So I like mr romney.

and now for obama.

I like mr obama because he is against romney's proposal of cutting budget of education and research.

President obama said , Education and research is very important , it is the thing which will keep us at the 1st place in the world. while governor romney said , I will cut education and research budget which sucks.

So both have good and bad points.

But I am in favor of romney , who has a bold stance against russia and china.
