@savvy boy

.............. but for more good information contact "VISA GRANT" on visa journey.

Thank You...:)

Ahmed What about administrative processing ?? (AP)

How long is AP taking at islamabad ??? average ????

And is it necessary that everyone would go through this administrative processing ?

@ SONY & @ Sachin

Do you guys got your appointment letters ?????

Petitions which go through AP may take weeks or months.

The FBI states they complete 80% of the name checks within 2 months and their goal is to complete them all by 4 months.

If you wait longer than 2 months then I suggest contacting your congressman

If a case is in MANDATORY Administrative Processing it usually means name and background checks with FBI

If case is in INTERNAL Administrative processing it usually means background checks, relationship checks or document verification at the embassy.

Both can take a long time.

CALL Department of State DOS-202-663-1225 and press 1 then press 0 and ask them every week the status of your case

What is Administrative Processing? AP is also called Additional Administrative Processing and is when the applicant is being checked more closely. It can be for security checks which encompass fingerprints and/or name checks or for document verification.

When does Administrative Processing Happen? AP can happen at any time during your processing. It can happen at a service center, at the NVC level, or at the embassy level. It mainly is discussed here in the forums at the embassy level.

Who can get Administrative Processing and Why? AP usually affects men and women from certain countries but anyone can get AP. Persons coming from T countries (Terrorist Countries) seem to have more security checks and have to endure AP at the embassy level after their interview. Common names, your nationality, religion, education, relationship of applicant, travels and job can all be factors for AP. Having incomplete or missing documents will also cause a case to be put in AP. In some cases if the embassy does not believe in the validity of the relationship they can investigate it further with a field investigation.

• What are the T-Countries? Although it is classified, the list of countries reportedly affected by these restrictions includes, but is not limited to, Afghanistan,

Algeria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Djibouti, Egypt,

Eritrea, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya,

Malaysia, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia,

Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates,

and Yemen. http://www.abil.com/....0Wolfsdorf.pdf This list is complied from an attorney and the list of T-countries can change at any time.

Can I check the status of my case? The embassy will not in many cases respond to emails until a certain amount of time has elapsed. The best bet is to contact Department of State aka: DOS and ask them for an update bi-weekly. They will not be able to give you details but they can tell you if the case is still pending in AP or cleared.

DOS information: DOS can be contacted Monday through Friday during business hours. You must have all information concerning your case with you so that they can assist you.

Department of State’s visa Information phone number: 202-663-1225

Can I expedite this process? The simple answer is NO. No one can expedite the checks since they are considered a matter of National security. An elected official can only make a congressional inquiry on your behalf. They cannot get the checks finished any faster.

Does AP have any time frame for completion? NO, AP can last anywhere from days, weeks, months and in a few cases years.

Good Luck..

Hi guys, I'm having a bit of trouble understanding how to read the USCIS visa bulletin/priority date chart. Especially because I don't know which one or what info im supposed to be looking at.

I'm trying to look into this for my mother, whom was petitioned (I-130) by her her USC brother back in April 2001.

Here's some info: Receipt Date,July2001

Priority date,April 2001

Approvable NOA in March2009

She has waited for a very long time and I'm almost sure she can by now petition for AOS.

If you guys would please help me figure this out, I would really appreciate it :)

Got engaged- April/2012

Married- May/2012

Sent in package to Chicago Lockbox- 8/14/12 (Day0)

Package received- 8/17/12 (Day3)

Email&Txt notifications- 8/28/12 (Day14)

NOA's in the mail- 8/30/12 (Day16)

Biometrics date in the mail [9/19]- 9/1/12 (Day18)

Biometrics completed! - 9/19/12 (Day36)

Interview scheduled notice- 10/3/12 (Day50)

Interview [11/7/12] (Day85)

Approved!!! (Day85)

Your mother or her petitioner brother would have been contacted by the concerned authority about 2 years ago. That's when April, 2001 became current for the first time. In Feb, 2011 however, the priority dates 'retrogressed' and went all the way back to Jan 2000. Now, we anticipate that the Visa Bulletin for the month of November 2012 would make the April 2001 priority dates current. I suggest you first call the NVC at (001)603-334-0700 with the petitioners name and DOB, the beneficiary's name and DOB and your case no. They will tell you the status of your case.

Although the priority date becoming current means that a 'visa' number is avaiable, it also applies the same to those who will be filing for 'AOS' and not a 'visa'. It's just about your place coming up in the long line of F4 immigrants. It's only when we become 'current' that we let them know that we are filing for AOS or Immigrant visa.

Thanks again! :D

Retrogression means that the 'cut-off' date in the Visa Bulletin goes backward, instead of forward. This happens when the people who publish the Visa Bulletin predict that there are not going to be enough number of visas of a particular category available, in this case F4, as compared to the number of applicants who applied for a IV or AOS. One of the reasons for this being a lot of people replying late once the NVC contacts them. There is also a dangerous condition that the NVC has put; if the applicant or the petitioner DOES NOT reply to the NVC for 12 months, the NVC will start the process of closing that case. Now I don't know what the conditions are in your case. But contacting the NVC will clear that up.

How do I know that the priority dates retrogressed?

Because the 'cut-off' date for F4 category was 01Jan2002 for the month of January 2011. But the 'cut-off' date for F4 category was 01Jan2000 in the visa bulletin for the month of February 2011. Here's the link for all the past Visa Bulletins http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_1770.html

For the month of September 2012, the 'cut-off' date for F4 is 08 March 2001. The visa bulletin for the month of October 2012 will be out around 10th September. Goodluck.
