Hi Guys,

I applied for the EAD when I sent in the AOS package and have been in for my biometrics and all that jazz but still no word on the EAD...the NBC seem to be still processing May 8th applications (mine was received on June 2nd). Anyway, I'm wondering, as we have our interview next week, if we get an approval, can I work then or so I still have to wait for my EAD to be approved and arrive in the mail? Seriously wondering was there any point in applying for the EAD at all (especially if it is automatic with the AOS approval). Doesn't seem to make sense that it wouldn't be automatic (able to be here legally but not able to work?).

I was wondering has anyone been through this situation where the EAD didn't arrive before the AOS interview and got approved? Can you tell me what happened after that please?

Thanks a million,

LC

Once your AOS is approved and you receive your residence card, you no longer require an EAD. You will be authorized to work based on your residence.

IF (big if) you are completely approved at your interview AND get the I-551 stamp, you are a Permanent Resident.

Sometimes, you won't know you are a PR until you get your Green Card in the mail.

I recommend the following reads to anyone who is becoming a Permanent Resident, so you can better understand your rights and responsibilities. It also explains work and travel permissions that go with your new status.
