My cats HATE the vacuum cleaner.

We actually bought a little toy car to chase them around. We thought they'd love to play with it and catch it, but instead it freaks them out so we just chase them around with it instead.

The cat seemed to enjoy the ride.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

That is such a hoot! My cats are afraid of the vacuum cleaner as well. My 17 year old tries to bury his head in his cat bed and ignore it but the others all run. We used to have a deaf cat who actually thought the vacuum cleaner was a toy. He would wait around the corner and every time the 'wand' would come forward to vacuum the floor he would leap out at it and jump on it, then race away and hide behind the door in wait again. It was hilarious to watch him.

We used to take him outside under supervision and he always had a bell on his collar so we would know where he was. The neighbours next door had a big sheepdog type of dog with a really deep 'woof'. This dog used to bark when he saw our cats, but the deaf cat couldn't hear him so it never fazed him. When the dog approached the fence however, the cat would fluff himself all up and make his tail twice its normal size, then start slowly walking sideways with his back arched towards the dog. The dog didn't know what to make of this and stopped barking as the cat advanced. Then, as the cat got closer to the fence, the dog would start to back slowly away and then finally turn and walk back to their back door and lie down. That too was funny to watch. Unfortunately, he died very young from leukaemia - he probably acquired it directly through his mother. This was before they knew much about feline leukaemia virus, and there was no vaccine or treatment available.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

My cats do too but I also have a roomba and they aren't afraid of it. They don't ride it but only move when it's headed towards them.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."
