My Chinese wife who is now a LPR, sent in the I-130 2 years ago for her unmarried son who is 23 still living in China.

I,for the life of me cannot fiqure out how and whom to contact to have his new address updated in his applications.

Anyone have any idea? Thanks.

PS. I have read to send in the AR-11 but,I thought that was if the beneficiary was living in the USA.

Quite confusing.

i have a friend who needed to do the same thing.

as easy as Write to USCIS with a copy of the notice with your case # . Call USCIS and confirm that the address has changed ..

But nowadays, there is a new online procedure follow this link and read if your case is described here

IIWY, I would not 'sweat this' until a DS-230 is presented at NVC.

Seriously.

The beneficiary gets no notifications during I-130 adjudication.

The 'next time' to capture the beneficiary's address? The DS-230 form, during NVC processing.

Any idea of the priority date, btw?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

so the Priority date is 3/6/2008 -

and it's a 'legal permanent resident' filing for her unmarried son.

so basically look up the 'priority date' in the Visa Bulletin -

here's the one for July 2010 -

http://travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_5019.html

so that puts the son in category 2B (Spouses and Children, and Unmarried Sons and Daughters of Permanent Residents | Unmarried Sons and Daughters (21 years of age or older)

and going by the chart in 'that bulletin' - the priority date in process, for PRC-Mainland born, category 2B, is 01MAY03. So anyone with a priority date on or before 01MAY03, yer ready to play at NVC.

After 01MAY03, you have to wait until yer priority date 'becomes current', meaning it shows up IN THE GRID in the visa bulletin. The Visa Bulletin is published monthly, so keep studying that, you'll see some movement, over time.

I've always wondered 'about this' - if things really move forward in a linear fashion, from year to year - but ya won't know, specifically, until the 'priority date becomes current', from the VISA Bulletin.

The bad news - yer lass is in for a wait.

The good news - when/if she becomes a US Citizen, the classification changes (on her) from 2B to 1A, so the priority date shifts as well, in her favor.

Thank you Darnell for clearing that up for us. I would suggest to wife to get going on passing her ctizens test to spedd things up.

Thanks again.

don't forget yer original query though - about the 'address for beneficiary' -

it won't matter UNTIL yer ready to file the DS-230 (Visa Application) to NVC -

and ya put in the new address on that form.

Good Luck !

No, NVC doesn't send out forms, unless you 'do nothing' for 90 days, after the casefile has been received at NVC.

Currently, is 3 paths for NVC processing. Pick One

1. Do Nothing - automatically placed in 'postal path' - every 90 days, NVC sends out something to the petitioner and beneficiary

--DS-3032 to beneficiary

--AOS Fee Bill to Petitioner

-another 90 days goes by, then some postal mail again

--DS-230 to Beneficiary

-another 90 days goes by

--checklist letter response to petitioner and beneficiary on missing documents

-another 90 days goes by

-letter about casefile sent to Guangzhou IV unit

2. Be Proactive - review http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/221785-ds-3032-slowdown/page__view__findpost__p__3560467

3. OPT IN for NVC Electronic Processing - see http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Electronic_Processing

re: waiting on forms. Nope, suggest you get them, via download, instead - see (for current forms)

DS-230 - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html

I-864 - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3730.html

General NVC stuff - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1335.html

But hei - you've got some years to wait - who knows? This process, current as of today, might very well change up to be something else, totally unrecognizeable by the time the son's casefile is ready to be processed at NVC.

I never suggest to anyone , to 'wait on forms to be sent' from NVC. You could do that, wait. But it drags things out. There IS a reason NVC gives you 1 year to 'wrap up all' at NVC, of course.
