Just a question after getting married. We are now adjusting status, but we want to know if my husband should report to the French Embassy in the US since arriving? Do we need to go there personally for an appointment to tell them we are married - so that the marriage is recognized in France, also?:)

This is not an AOS qn..

**moved from AOS (Family) to France regional because it's not an AOS question, and a country specific question instead**

To be recorded in France, you would need to do whatever it is the French Consulate requires in order to get the family book. (Looks like an Apostilled version of the marriage certificate.

Hello,

You're close to Philly so you'll probably have to check with Washington embassy:

http://www.consulfrance-washington.org/IMG/pdf/LISTE_MARIAGE.pdf

To sum it up, I recommend you guys plan a day to go there and do everything at the same time (get him "listed" on the consulate list + marriage transcription).

Paper wise, you basically need an original marriage licence, and both of your birth certificate (original copies), etc....

French BC must be less than 3 months old.

Depending on the "queues" there, I'd say it's 1 or 2 hours burden thing, and a good excuse to visit Washington.

We have a American/French thread going on in this same section. I know we tend to speak French there but you're more than welcome to ask your questions there. As the thread is monitored by many frenchies you'll get a quick answer.

And then you'll get the french familly blue booklet!!! Wooohooo!

Last significant immigration event:

ROC: Approved : 04/17/2013

USCIS works in mysterious ways...
