Sad question we hate to ask

Hi guys,

Let's make assumption okay?

I submitted my application for k-1 last week. If while we are in the waiting mode either one of us wants to back-out, how can we do it such that I will not jeopardize her chance for some one else to sponsor her and/or the chance for me sponsoring some one else. See my time line for our current status.

Note: If I did not love or care about her this much, I would not be so worried about jeopardizing her future @ I think you got the picture by now. Most definitely, it is not me who wants to call if off !

If you are having any doubts then my suggestion is to not continue on with the petition. This is not a wait-and see-visa this is a fiance visa for someone that you both want to spend your lives with.

However, in reference to your question you can stop the petition at almost any point. Depending on where you are in the process you would need to send a letter withdrawing your petition.

Like others have stated you or she can just submit something in writing and request requesting the petition to be cancelled. Also, in the future if you or she decides to go this route again with someone else there will be a record of this petition and it will have to be explained at some point probably during the interview. Honestly, I don't think you would have too much of a problem if you sponsored someone else, but for her I think it would be more difficult, especially because of the consulate she will be dealing with. I hear its a hard consulate to begin with, and when they find out a prior petition was cancelled, and depending on how much time has passed, they may accuse her of shopping for a greencard. I read a story on here recently where a couple was going thru the same thing (she had a previous petition cancelled for her) and they denied her right on the spot and accused her for shopping for a greencard.

Exactly what I want to avoid...I would hate if she is accused of shopping for green card. Whether that was/is her intend or not. My heart can not reach that far to jeopardize any one dream or whatever we call it these days.

Maybe that is not her intention, but you have to look at the situation from the CO eyes. If he sees she had a petition cancelled, and now after 6months-year is back with someone new and looking to immigrate they will most likely suspect something. If she is the one that wants to call this off, then she should have thought more about the process and the consequences if the relationship didn't work out before you guys started this journey. This is not an easy process and people should be absolutely certain they want to share their lives together before venturing down this path.

Pakipot means she is playing hard to get. It refers to the courting phase of a relationship, before she gives you her matamis na oo. However, since she has already given you two donuts, she is not pakipot. She simply has cold feet.

You are the only one who can cancel your petition. If you two split up and you don't cancel your petition, you could run into trouble when you petition someone else. She could run into trouble also if you don't cancel your petition and she gets petitioned down the road by someone else. Your petition is still at the USCIS. If you need to cancel it, just send a letter to USCIS.

I guess I'm not the only one who thought you were Filipino...

Maybe it would be helpful to other guys in the forum if you shared what happened. That way maybe we could notice the signs early on, and avoid the pitfalls of this time-consuming and relatively expensive process.

Good day..I know it's very personal to ask..but what made you think of trying to back-out??...if I'm right, you were also the one who posted something last time, like you were thinking of sending computer to her mom right(if I'm wrong, please excuse.. )...hmmm..so far, you really have to talk with her about this before you decide..coz worst is, if you will cancell the petition(not knowing the reasons you state on your letter), what if someday you will both realize that you love each other and file again..idk, but that might question your petition again...in any way, you have good intentions...God will provide!!..God bless!!

Well, maybe it is an age difference: 24 vs 46. But I find her so cold some times. I know she gets like that during her (monthly) but still. I have the strong sense that something is going..Some fine print about her that I cannot read.

Go with your Gut Feelings..There are plenty of Good Honest loving women in the Philippines. It is not like you could a good honest loving Filipina.
