The time has come ppl. On Tuesday morning I leave the states to continue to follow my heart and go to get my fieance(e). Her interview is on Thursday the 12th and we expect all good things. 6 months and 1 day from filing petition we never need say goodbye again. No more skype and email in our relationship, we are so excited that we will share the same home, same life and same dinner table every day.:dance::dance::dance:

Vika and I both wish you a fast and easy approval! After reading your comments above I would say "never say never", and leave the skype on the computer. As Vika is preparing to leave for a five week stay in Ukraine (then two weeks somewhere with me), we will probably use skype if she can get the in-laws set up with web access. She also taks to her girlfriends in Ukraine on skype often.

Good luck. The easy part is almost over.

When she is in your life here every day, it will take a LOT of your time and patience. Give it to her. She needs you more than any person on earth and is counting on you more than you can imagine. Don't let her down. Be prepared. She will be as dependent on you as a child. She will sometimes be upset for no reason, be prepared to be there for her.

You will also have to do the AOS and two years later the LOC. You will still have to keep evidence of your relationship and it is not so easy as making copies of emails. Alla and I still use email and I still send her an email every day (at least one, usually several). We also skype when she goes to Ukraine (more than I can go with her) Oddly enough while engaged we never used Skype.

Most of all, never forget all you did to be together.

Gary and Slim are right. You will need a lot of patience and understanding. Even if you believe the two of you communicate well, be prepared for some major misunderstandings. Consider what she is giving up for you and try to accommodate her. She will need to learn our ways but don't try to force them upon her. Over time she will adjust.

By the way, plan of some heat in Kyiv. Temperatures there have been pretty high lately and will probably continue. If you will be staying in her town for any length of time, try to buy a fan and make it a present to the family when you leave. It will be greatly appreciated.

Have a great trip and welcome to your new life.

Buy the SCOTT tissue, 1000 sheets per roll. I buy them 96 rolls at a time at Costco. Lasts a couple weeks that way.

Whatever you do, don't buy the cheap store brand. It'll get used... but it'll take you a whole year to use it while she uses the Charmin.

I'll be getting a membership to Costco in the next few days. (Sorry to hijack your thread CH) I have Anna and her sister here and the parents will be coming this Saturday. 100 rolls of TP and 10 Lbs of Potatos coming up!

It's funny, I went from pretty much living by myself, with the kids coming on the weekends, to having the girls and kids full time (Kids's mom went on vacation for 2 weeks as soon as Anna got here... Coincidence? yeah..) As sma... petite... as Anna and her sister are, they can still put down some food throughout the day, my daughter is 12 and going through a growth spurt--more food, and my son is 13, 6'2 and about 180 refigerator emptying lbs. I can't seem to buy enough! :D

Ok, end of hijack...

Shaun, I'm sure CH won't mind as he's in Ukraine with his honey. I'm waiting to hear from him about the interview, which should be tomorrow if I remember correctly.

Don't you always wonder where these kids and these skinny girls put all that stuff. Go for it at Costco. I use to refer to it as the $100 store years ago. Now it is the $300 store.

Costco is essential. Alla's first impression of it was "Capitalist excess" but she has since made it her favorite store and really they have excellent fruits and vegetables and meat.

Both boys eat like wolves and nearly constantly. Alla will say, let them get a little hungry, they didn't eat like this in Ukraine...but she will pack out the refrigerator as soon as something runs out. They go through "iced tea" (actually "room temperature tea") GALLONS at a time. If the food is there, they will be eating it.

Costco or Sams is a must!

Spending $300 there still requires "putting some stuff back" that isn't absolutely necessary.
