Am a K-1 visa holder..I have a question..we want to start filling out the AOS papers, but have not recieved my SSN..could take a while to get it,since they can't find me in there system and have to look for me manually...Now do I have to wait for my SSN before starting AOS papers?..or can I just send out my AOS without having a SSN?..thanks..

I don't think it is a 100% must. On the form I-485, it even states: US Social Security # (if any)

I'm sure you'll be fine without it - or file it later (depending on your timeline...).

Good luck

you do not need SSN to do your aos. if you look at the guids on VJ you should do the AOS as soon as possible. It just worked out that for some of us waiting for the marriage licence etc we happened to get our SSN before AOS. you will always be known by your Alien number on your noa's and visa to uscis.
