I am helping a friend who is adjusting status from a tourist visa to fill in her forms. On the I-485, it asks for the reason you are eligible to adjustt status. I cannot see an option that applies to her, adjustment based on marriage to a US citizen after an overstay.

Naturalization

Son's N-400 Timeline

08/14/2020 - Sent N-400 and I-912 waiver to TX lockbox

09/18/2020 - NOA via text

06/05/2021 - Notification of biometrics scheduled

09/17/2021 - Interview - decision cannot be made

11/24/2021 - Denial letter, 30 days to appeal

12/24/2021 - Appeal sent back with I-912 waiver

12/24/2021 - Motion to terminate deportation proceedings from 2013 filed

I am helping a friend who is adjusting status from a tourist visa to fill in her forms. On the I-485, it asks for the reason you are eligible to adjustt status. I cannot see an option that applies to her, adjustment based on marriage to a US citizen after an overstay.

The overstay is irrelevant. They should check box "a" and include an I-130 immigrant visa petition with the I-485. An immigrant visa is technically always available to an immediate relative (including spouse) of a US citizen. They just need to include the petition for the visa.
