My entire AOS packet was returned to me in the mail today. I am trying to figure out what was wrong with the application. As far as I can tell, we forgot to check the box showing what we were applying for on the EAD. Is it normal for them to return the entire AOS package just because a mistake was made on the EAD? There were Rejection notices attached to the I-765,I-484,and the I-864 but only the rejection notice on the I-765 specified what was wrong ststing "I am applying for" which is the box we forgot to check. Once I correct that form is it safe to assume that we can re-submit the AOS packet?

Thanks!

The same thing happen to a friend of mine. She couldn't tell what was wrong.

She thinks her package was kinda "messy", then she organized the forms and stuff, re submitted it and everything went fine.

Before re submitting it, make sure everything is correct and organized.

Boa sorte! :)

Go the USCIS site and check all the current versions of the forms and compare them to yours. Its possible that your form was a previous version, even if it was not outdated. If your AOS form says expires dec 2010 you should be fine...the old one expired in 2011. Others have had theirs returned for errors on DOB, by mistake they entered 2010....which obviously would make them ineligible to get married or apply for an EAD etc. They are very vague on the WHY the package was returned. One person spent weeks trying to figure out why theirs said the check was wrong and finally realized that the check was fine but their date of birth was incorrect. I think the AOS form itself has an error because I've heard of others getting an RFE if the EAD or AP was incorrect but if the AOS form or check is incorrect they have no choice but to send it back as the EAD and AP are just supplements to the package.

No they normally wouldn't return the entire packet due to an error on the EAD form. I would assume there's something else wrong with it. What exactly did the rejection notice say? The EAD form CAN be sent with the AOS but it doesn't have to be. Did you send the correct fee? did you write the cheque out to the right people (i.e. US Department of Homeland Security)? Did you sign the forms in the right place? Did you tick the box for what you're applying for on the AOS forms?

Compare your forms to the example forms and see if you can spot the difference...

Mine was returned too, because the check was written wrong :bonk:

Things were even already organized by a different person, pages had a print on the sides, medical and other stuff were inside a plastic... it's like someone started processing it to go into the queue and then "oh ####### wrong check" and then they sent it back to me. So I pilled everything the way it came and sent it back with the right check.
