Hey Nat, I can't believe hubby's job still hasn't fully opened. That's crazy. Glad they are finally getting it together. I love the update and think it's great and shows how much you love each other to be hanging more in each others territories which you normally wouldn't prefer. I feel for you both on the money issues because I know how hard it is to combine lives and all of a sudden you get half a vote instead of just deciding completely on you own, like I know I was soo used to. I think some people are savers and some are spenders and of couse there are many people somehwere between the two, most I would think, in fact. Because of your love for each other I know you will find a happy medium you can both live with, but it's hard when you have such different mind sets to then come together as one (as they say). I know this first year of marriage is full of all kinds of adjustments. I'm hoping the second year is much smoother, not to say this first year hasn't been great, but there is no getting around the fact that combining two lives is an adjustment.

I agree about not letting friends in JA drive a car we buy. I'm only considering it because I know his dad is so responsible and will keep up with the car along with driving safely. In fact, he's a tour guides so he has lots of driving experience. Vaughn's friend got married to a lady from Canada and they have no fiance visa so she bought a car while they were waiting for his visa for him to use and specifically so she didn't have to keep renting a car. They had a baby and she would go for a month or so at a time so it really made sense for them. However, when he moved to Canada he let his younger cousin use the car and a week later it was wrecked.

Ok bed time. I'm rambling too much.

Morning all - What other calling cards have you all used for JA? I have been using Ringyard, but it's giving all kinds of problems for me - someone said Rebtel, so I signed up for that and it's ridiculous - it will not even connect the call, and now I am in a Paypal dispute with them for a refund of the $25 I put on the account.

So, what else do you all use?

Hello!!!! B-)

So I spent this evening reading this thread (and cooking tacos & hanging out with the husband & teleconferencing with some folks in Malaysia) to see what's going on and one trend is obvious; PREGNANCY!

Always Blessed, JQ, Eric_Jew Nug, 1luv, Acory???, Philly???, DW??, PortlandAngel <-- Congratulations to all the mothers-to-be. Good luck to those trying. JQ, you scared me with talk of a progesterone shot. I never heard of it, but anything that makes you go to the doctor EVERY WEEK must be awful! Hope your doctor is close by.

Hey nat!

You and Steven are so cute, keep up the good work in your relationships

The progesterone shots are scary!! and they burn like hell, I get them done every Tuesday at 2:30 :crying:

So today hubby will have to rub it

My doctor is close and cuteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I always prepare for him with my pelvic exams, make sure im well clean cut!!~!!! :bonk:

ROFL. Wow.

I guess if you're going to the doctor every week, may as well be an eye-candy one. My primary care physician is in his 70s, so  and my gynecologist is female, so definitely

Tee-- you know it is funny to me. Cause it seems like Eric doesn't think that our budget, spending, and us money is going to change with the edition of two children. Or he thinks that I am going to pick up the slack on his end. NOT!!!!

Just want him to look at the whole picture instead of just the right now. I have a lot of money left after I pay the bills that we decided I was going to pay. He says that I should pay more. So I asked him if he wants to swap the bills and I pay what he pays and he pays mine. Then the light poured in and he was like I am going to tighten up.

I completely understand. Its good you had him look at it from your point of view....

MrsTee, are you moving to Florida?

JaP, yay for your upcoming wedding date! And I'm not poking fun, but I laughed out loud about your son having to write lines. I've only seen it on tv & in movies; didn't know that was a real punishment.

Who is Life'sJourney? I'm guessing that is a name change. Speaking of name changes, I like the new name, esp the "Come as you are" part.

My3, congratulations on the promotion! Excellent news.

Welcome, MsNana!

Thompson2, I think buying a car is a good idea considering how often you'll travel there. However, I'm not sure if it would work for us because my very generous husband would surely let plenty of his young male friends drive the car... and we know how cautious young men are when driving.

So where have Irie, Ells, Philly, JG, etc been?

---------------------- Our Updates ---------------------------

Steven's job: So Steven got hired very quickly after he started looking (in April). The restaurant (a nearby Jamaican one) was originally going to open on May 15. Would you BELIEVE that it still has not fully opened! But things are looking up. The restaurant opened its doors for a preview night on Friday & again on Saturday. This week, they're having preview nights for specific organizations (giving out samples from the menu) and the Grand Opening is to be this weekend. FINALLY. That's over 3 months of income we expected to have, but didn't get.

Money: This is probably our main area for arguments. He thinks we can afford things; I rather live like paupers & save for a house! I think both of us need to shift our mentalities a bit (him more than me, of course). The other day, when he got a bottled water out of the refrigerator to drink, I suggested that he save the bottled waters for times when he's outside (since he hangs out there that much) and drink water from the Brita filter when inside. Logical to me. He felt like I was controlling when he can drink the water. On the other hand, he bought a brand new cell phone at the 11th month of the contract! He'd save $120 if he waited ONE MONTH to get the same phone. When he was looking at Converse shoes he wants on Saturday, I pointed out that he could get 3 pair of shoes with the money he'd recoup if he returned the phone & bought it in a few weeks.

Travel: We're looking forward to our upcoming trip to Jamaica for our 1 yr anniversary in November! When we get back, the plan is to go to New York & visit his sister. We have 2 free round trip tickets for Southwest, which will come in handy for that trip.

Overall, I REALLY REALLY love my husband. I love that he likes togetherness & cuddling & I trust him 100% when it comes to other women (even if not 100% when it comes to money management). We've been hanging out together more lately than we were a few months ago. He's an outside person & I'm an inside person, but I notice we've been actively increasing the time we spend in each other's "areas." So I've been hanging with him & the neighbors outside (they always act so surprised when I join them) and he's been hanging inside with me more (prob helped by our 98 degree days AND nights).

Catch y'all another time! :P

Nat, it is good to see you and like I said on FB I miss you and the coupons!

Yes my intentions are to try to move to Florida in another 4 to 5 years.

Glad to hear things are going good with you and Steven. He will learn about money when he has his own to spend
