July jobs report: Economy still losing jobs

It is relevant because that's the economic platform of the opposition party right now - extending those tax cuts they enacted years before. Nice dodge though of the facts because you can't refute the statistical data regarding the tax cuts and job creation during the previous 8 years. And given that the tax cuts actually took us from a surplus to a deficit, it is ironic for the "deficit hawks" to be turning a blind eye to that failed economic policy, while trying to continue pimping it to the American people.

The economy wasn't the primary issue during the Bush years as Democrats spent most of their time arguing about Iraq War and the Patriot Act. Unemployment, inflation and interest rates were low for the bulk of his tenure and Democrats had little to say on the economy.

Liberals who complained about Bush's budget deficit are now full of excuses when Obama has run wild on spending with little positive effect. Interesting that we can't afford Bush's tax cuts but we can afford a larger stimulus though the unemployment rate has been consistently higher under Obama.

It hasn't been about Bush for 20 months now. It hasn't even been about the Republicans in Congress for 44 months. When are the Democrats going to man up, and take responsibility for crashing the family car?

The Democrats have manned up and done something about the recession. But recovery will only happen when business leaders grow a pair instead of playing the blame game.

I know you wont believe it, but complaining does not solve problems.

 So write the president and tell him that.

So the business sector is acting as some evil cabal to thwart Obama's economic policy. Novotol had the same line but he wouldn't put it that way. He insisted the businesses were "on strike".

The idea the businesses are always seeking to maximize profits and reduce losses escapes these partisan Obama cheerleaders.

As far accepting any blame goes, most of the Dem talk rests on the beginnings of Reaganomics from 30 years ago and GW Bush tax cuts that Obama can feel free not to renew if he and the Dems are so sure of themselves.

Government at all levels could stand to shed a few million jobs. That is a good sign. That private industry is not hiring even at a maintenance rate is a bad sign.

Keeping people in government jobs generally serves to maintain the holders of said jobs as consumers,

rather than actually credit them with having produced anything.

Sometimes it's hard to see how an economy based on consumerism + service can sustain itself when

practically everything is produced elsewhere.

Private industry has to come back and so far it's been out to lunch.

So, you want to excuse the lack of performance by the current administration on the policies of the previous administration. Way to take charge there!

Ask just about any Republican in Washington, what should we do about the high unemployment and they'll say, "tax cuts." The economic policy of the Republican Party can be summed up in those two words. So, according to that logic, we shouldn't be having such high unemployment, after several years into the Bush's Tax Cuts. So then why, according to the Republican Party, do we have such high unemployment right now?

In other words, what should Obama do about the high unemployment, according to his opponents?

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

thats fvckin hilarious. they made it worse & guaranteed it would take longer to recover. with their pork filled 'stimulus' & 'healthcare reform health insurance mandate'. the azzholes were trying to double energy costs too. nobody in their right mind will invest capital right now w/ the dollar falling & huge taxes coming around the corner.

yeah, they argued about it and didn't do a thing they said they were going to do. they won congress in 2006 on an anti-war platform then did absolutely nothing to end either war. even with a democrat as president, they've done absolutely nothing to end either war - instead they are supporting a bigger war in afghanistan. the draw down in iraq was negotiated by bush - obama is just following the contract there.
