In Roseto, Pa., a carnival company closed down a shooter game called "Alien Attack," after complaints and news stories that President Obama was one of the targets.

The black "alien leader" is holding a scroll titled "Health Bill" and wearing a presidential seal belt buckle. He also has antennae and a troll doll with a KISS T-shirt on his shoulder.

The owner of the carnival company, Goodtime Amusements, dismissed a complaint, saying the figure is not meant to be Obama.

"She [a carnival-goer] said she was offended by it. I said if you are, you might want to be. But you're interpreting it as being Obama. We're not interpreting it as Obama," said the owner, Irvin Good Jr.

After drawing more attention from the press, however, Good shut down the game and apologized.

"I didn't think it was offensive, and you know, I made the wrong judgment on it," he said. "And that's all I can say about it. We did away with it, and I'm apologizing to everybody in the world, I think."

A spokesman for the Secret Service says they've spoken with Good and that they'll take "whatever action is appropriate."

I've never been an apologist for Obama or any other politician - conservative, liberal or anything in between.

However, I think this is offensive to the office of the President and

although it's probably protected under free speech is in very bad taste.

I don't think it's racist (many will disagree) because they are attacking

him on the basis of his position as Commander in Chief.

Nixon endured lampooning on a much greater scale and I don't think the government or he

personally brought any libel suits against those who portrayed him as ridiculous,

but I would be against having him or any other president portrayed as the target

in a shooting gallery.

Yes they can make images of the President as being ridiculous,

but the shooting gallery I just can't go for.

Obviously this is not the publicity they wanted if they apologized for it, and for saying it wasn't meant to be Obama when it was, they just look weak and dishonest. Not the kind of service I'd want at my event for sure and I'd feel that way if Sarah Palin was on it instead.

But anyway, unless your whole business revolves around this kind of thing, why would you want to risk alienating (haa!) any of your customers at all because of your political opinions.

if this was a popular game that helped raise needed funds for a church ... well .... the church was conducting the businesss of raising funds .... earning $$$$

there were people that didn't want to play ... and there were people that did want to play. that's usually how carnival games operate.

LOL There's a big difference between trying to please people all of the time and doing something which is blatantly going to offend people and be harmful to your business. There was no need to create this sort of divide, it's supposed to be a place where everyone can have fun. They should have invested their time into trying to make the experience better perhaps.

Also it doesn't look good on the church. So they appeared to be mostly ok with it, that's their business, but it does not make a good image for them and their values as Christians, especially if they are looking for more people to join.

You may or may not be a Christian who is unoffended (or indeed happy) about such a thing, but they being the leaders of their spiritual community are meant to set an example.
