K1 visa interview

Has anybody got any experience with "setting" the date for K1 interview at London Embassy?

My fiancé will come to visit in October and I was wondering if i can request that the interview is scheduled to coincide with his visit. My understanding is that typically the Embassy just schedules the date without input from the beneficiary. However i was curious if they are somewhat flexible and willing to accommodate requests.

Any advice/sharing of experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

A

I have known them to accommodate certain dates for a good reason. They won't give you an earlier date...meaning push you way ahead of your normal schedule I doubt. But say you are sending your P3 items back today and your interview might be scheduled for late Sept. If you put in a cover letter requesting (nicely) an interview during the week(s) Oct x through Oct y, then they might do it.

Our experience: Not knowing when the NOA 2 would come, my fiance had scheduled a trip to the US for his birthday. As things worked out, the NOA2 came and it looked like his interview would likely happen during his time in the US if it followed the pattern of others going through at that time. So his P3 cover letter contained something like this in bold letters--Please can you schedule an interview appointment from July 25, 2008 onwards as I will be unable to attend prior to that date. They gave him July 31. Other's on our same basic schedule interviewed in early July. So we pushed our date back basically. I've known other's who asked for a specific two week time frame. So give the reason---fiance will be in the country, etc. If you're delaying over what you would have gotten according to the "schedule", you might be accommodated. It doesn't hurt to ask.
