Correct, the yellow letter (from what I read) is similar to an RFE but a more gentle one in the sense that it only asks you to bring to the interview certain original documents that they might ask you to see.

As for the process time, it depends but Sand is correct, 2-3 months to get the interview... then the oath.

Mein gott !

I fell into the trap of believing the USCIS when it says 5 months for Yakima and most other offices (budget is 5 months)

I mail my n400 on Monday by 24 hour mail

Any idea when the bio will be ?

I believe the interview letter is 6 weeks after the bio ?

and the interview notice period is 3 weeks from the letter ?

Its just that I am trying to plan some vacation in the UK after the bio but before the interview and I can't figure the REAL timetable

Is doing a bio walk in going to speed it up ? I hear they nearly all say ok if you turn up early with the bio letter

thanks Alan

well....Alan, I got my bio on the 30th of June, and I sent my docs around the 20th of May, so probably by middle of Sept. you should get yr bio. So if you plan a vacation ( I wouldn't take it, but that's me, but if you have to) then I will plan it right away after the bio, as it takes 2/3 months to have the interview...........Unfortunately it takes such a long time for anything........hopefully this is gonna be our last step!!!!!Good luck!!!!!!

no, the whole thing took almost 4 months in Miami, it depends on what city and state you live in,

I filed on Feb 18, my bio was on April 2nd, the interview June 9th. after the bio I got the yellow letter, I can't remember but I think it was a few weeks after the bio.

my oath ceremony was on July 28th because I was not able to attend June's oath ceremony.

Just a quick question, I got my interview letter through the other day which have me my time and date, but the letter wasnt yellow? Am I to expect another one on top of this?

if you submitted all the documents with the N400 then you won't receive a yellow letter. The letter is a sort of a RFE, missing documents.

take copies of everything, passport and ID.

Hi Daphne2109,

Nice to see you again on VJ! How are you? How's Bella?

I never received a 'yellow letter'......

But from what others have mentioned on VJ, it's basically a letter that mentions as to what "specific" paperwork/documents, in regards to your particular situation, that you will have to bring with your during your citizenship interview...

This is usually sent to people/applicants who are 'missing' certain required documents with their application...

I did though receive a 'white letter'....

Which is letter that mentions as to what "general" paperwork/documents, that everyone, regardless of their situation, have to bring to their citizenship interview....

This is usually sent to everyone who have sent in all their required documents with their application.....

Either way, both letters tell you what to take to the interview paperwork-wise....

So you should expect either one (or both in some cases) of these letters in the mail before the interview....

Though I must say...White letters are better than Yellow letters....

In most cases (based on VJ timelines) the interview is about 1-3 months after the biometrics are taken...

See VJ timelines and application month specific posts for more information....

For example, for me I had my biometrics at the end of September (though originally it scheduled for early October, but I went early instead) and I had my interview in the middle of November.....(and then got US Citizenship a few days after I passed the interview...)

Each case is different, so you can determine exact timelines accordingly.....

Hope this helps. Good luck on your journey too.

Ant
