I appreciate all the good advice I have been given on this forum and so I wish to say thank you to everyone who has answered my posts. Also I will say thank you in advance for the replies to this post.

There is a single woman in Ukraine that I know who wishes to come to the USA on a tourist visa in the spring of 2011. I know of two women that had wished to come and visit American men in the past and the visa's were turned down flat. The women were legitimate and professionals. The men were the same.

The woman that wishes to obtain the tourist visa is a single mother, self employed and owns an apartment. She has a clean criminal record and would pose no problems with anything in that arena. She would be a bona fide tourist. She has a son in Ukraine who is 5 who lives with her and if she did not bring him to America with her, would this be in her favor of having a Visa granted. The son would stay with her mother in Ukraine.

The son alone would not grant her permission. She would need to make sure to have something that would ensure that she would return to the Ukraine. This has to be damn near irrefutable. I can say I know quite a few Ukrainian tourist who have come to the USA but they visited high recognizable tourist locations such as Las Vegas, Disney World, Disney Land, New York. Visiting more obscure places like Little Rock and or Phoenix tends lend itself to questions. THIS IS NOT ALWAYS THE CASE, but it seems to be a trend.

Just when we thought we winning the rat race... along comes a faster rat (i.e USCIS)

Realistically, it will be very difficult, almost impossible for her to get approved BUT she will never know if she doesn't give it a try. She will need all kinds of evidence to prove that she HAS to go back to the Ukraine and that she's not traveling to stay here permanently. This doesn't guarantee her a tourist visa but at least she'll feel better during the interview if she goes well prepared.

Just son would not be enough, she would have to prove she has significant balance in her accounts, she has a job or a business for which she will have to show documentation, like tax returns - showing she has vested interest in returning back to her home country.

As long she can prove that she will return back to the home country she should be fine.
