Wish I was at the stage where I could help you all! Good luck to all those who are waiting for Montreal to get their act together. I hope by the time I'm there they've sped it up a bit.

To be fair to montreal, they do process more visas than vancouver. Montreal is the only consulate in Canada to do spousal visa's like the cr-1 / ir-1. I can't quite find the link, but there is one somewhere hidden in the dos site that shows how many visas each consulate in each country processes. However, that doesn't mean Montreal shouldn't at least answer a few emails marked emergency etc, or that they should take months to process paperwork after the visa interview. It is really sad how so many people have to wait 3 months or more to hear anything after sending in additional docs after the interview. :(

I ended up having to wait 6 months from the time I got my NOA2(sept 2009) and interview (Mar 2010). About halfway thru the wait I enquired to see if I could get my case transferred to Vancouver (I told them I was moving to my parents home in Alberta). It took them about 11 weeks to respond (and I had recieved my mtl appt by that time, so I decided to wait it out) but they would have done it. So if you have a relative in the west that you could "move" in with, there is a potential of speeding up the process. I only wish that I had made the request sooner. I know that this is not the proper way of doing things, but it will speed up your process and that of others since there will not be as many people waiting for montreal!

MSR and Hendea3... by gone I meant I am just not in Canada anymore haha. I am at my fiance's just chillen. I don't work so... it's nice to kill the time and enjoy the summer. Checking out wedding venues, attending weddings, going to visit his family and such and such. If the consulate won't let us have a visa and move while on leave might as well make it an enjoyable vacation. It's actually better for me to call from here because I can use my fiance's phone and not get charged long distance :)

I feel like the reason why Montreal is so slow is because there are SO many people sending in applications and they are only allowed to process so many at a time. It's just a random guess though, but my best one.

Outstanding! I wish I could just say I was moving to a friends and do that... but like you said it takes them so long to respond to the request its almost not worth it. I would pay to fly to Vancouver for an interview over waiting 4-6 months like packet 3 says.

See profile for our K-1 Visa/AOS story from 2010-2011Apparently we love USCIS/NVC so much we left and are doing it again! This time giving IR-1 a whirl. Rock on immigrators.

Okay well i called the NBC. They said that the application was at the embassy awaiting an interview date. She told me she had no other info. Is the nvc where i should call or the embassy? I am all for helping out here because i don't want to wait any longer to see my babe.

Should i ask anything else? What days are open for calling? Lets get them rolling.

Michael

Not NBC lol....typing this from my phone. I meant to say NVC.

When I had my interview the head of the consulate mentioned this. Its not in regards to K1's or IR/CR1's, but they also process things like student visas, work visas etc, where there are only so many visa's alotted total. If they don't get them done fairly quickly, those people loose their chance to immigrate, where are we are assured as there is no number for how many spouses/fiances can come in. I think their busiest times are in July/Aug and around April as well, as students are trying to get their stuff before classes start, and when the applications for the H1B's start pumping through.

Since you have just submitted P3 recently, I think it still would be faster to have it transferred to Vancouver. I think I still had over a 2 month wait from the time my interview was scheduled until my interview!!
