Actually, I see no personal attack. What I was merely pointing out was the hypocrisy of many on VJ who, in one breath, wish Obama to choke on some food items (and potentially causing his death) and in the next breath point out what a good Christian they are.

Surely wishing ill on anyone is NOT the act of a good Christian soul and they should be called out on it?

If there IS a God, I hope to goodness he is reading this thread and is already preparing his judgement for the ones whose souls are truly hiding under their own fake sense of Christian entitlement.

Post #6 is a personal attack. It is not related to the topic, and it is a snarky comment made about another member. If you disagree with the comment, then fine - attack the comment but don't attack the poster. That is what makes this a personal attack. Other attacks then build upon this initial one, hence my comment.

I wish you'd vanish off the face of the earth might not require divine intervention but I guess you've never heard of fate (or other religions for that matter) before. I had to call out another tangential arguement when I see it.

I wish Obama a long life as this guy is the best thing to happen to the GOP in a generation. Of course there are other oddball posters who will now claim I'm invoking divine protection for Obama because they can't imagine any other meaning.

I too am a happy clappy atheist, but you'll rarely find me jamming into anyone's thread. Mags's objection here was one concerning the apparent hypocrisy of someone who mentions their religious convictions on a daily or near-daily basis (that religion being one that speaks much of love, mercy and clemency) wishing a violent death upon another in an open forum. As I stated, I usually keep my own wishes of untimely and unseemly deaths of others to myself. It is not the religion itself Mags objects to, but rather the strangeness of the situation.

Again, I disagree, and on this I fear we shall have to "agree to disagree". What I posted was directed at a particular person. What it wasn't was a personal attack. My intent was (and still is) merely to point out that the remark I was commenting upon was not the kind of thoughts that I would expect from someone who packages themselves up in Good Christian wrapping paper.

If you are a follower of Christ you do not wish for someone to choke, be it merely choking, or be it death from choking.

I will point out hypocrisy when I see it. If God exists I am sure that he would not be proud of one of his followers acting in this way. That is what I was pointing out, and that is not a TOS violation.

ALC, we've not had much interaction on these boards and, I doubt, we ever will again. However, what is clear to me is that you are interpreting from my post anti-religious sentiment.

You couldn't be more wrong. I've never had a bad experience with religion. I choose to not believe due to a) being brought up by non-religious parents and b) spending 10 years working in a scientific environment.

So, no hangs ups. I have religious friends; they like me, I like them. In fact, I actually don't give a stuff about religion at all. You can believe what you want to believe - it's no skin off my nose.

But what I can't abide is hypocrisy in any form. That is what I was pointing out. It just so happens that this poster is hiding behind the veil of religion. If they were a belly dancer and came out with some stuff about how belly dancers were all whores then I'd have pointed that out, too.

But wishing someone chokes on food is still not nice and is very un-Christian. By all means, say what you feel, but don't then post in other threads about what a good Christian you are.
