I bought BP shares at the bottom and I am sitting on a 40% gain in a few weeks

I knew it was just a hysterical mob reaction and I backed my judgment

Cramer on MSNBC said the shares were worthless and less than City Group at $4

They are now $40.67 and are the highest riser almost every day

These women who said they wanted to pound Tony Hayward's face into a bloody mush with their fists should be ashamed of being part of a hysterical mob.

He said it was a big ocean and it would disperse

They said it would kill all of Florida and the whole of the East Coast and the Brits would pay when the oil slick came across in the gulf stream and wiped out their coasts

CNN last night 'the oil has degraded in the large volume of water' and has disappeared

Anderson Pooper will have to eat his words

I really dislike hysteria and mob mentality and here was another example playing out

Now the people on the Gulf are saying "come on down the beaches are wonderful and our shellfish are just perfect - come and get some"

I think cable TV and some scurrilous Politicians made hay while the sun was shining and will continue to try and get a story - but basically they used the public to boost their own ratings

Tony got a few million and I got a few 10's of k's so no complaints there - but the US public were sold a pup and the true gainers were the cable companies.

Alan, I told you I would be right about buying BP and holding. :D I just had no idea that the payoff would come as quickly as this.

Not to take away from what is clearly and demonstrably a tragedy, but BP is more than the sum of its parts. There is so much going on at this company in terms of alternative energy and renewable resources that to assume that even a large disaster like this would bring it down seemed patently absurd to me. BP now has an amazing opportunity -- to remake itself into not only the best energy corporation in the world, but one of the best in any sector in the world. I hope they see this opportunity and run with it -- it would be good not only for shareholders, but for society at large.

+4

yes you did predict it but I am not sharing my winnings so hah !

Those cormorants were the ones who dived into a patch of oil behind a boom. They were attracted by the sheen which is like the sides of fish. The TV tried to make it look like there was a thousand miles of oiled cormorants when really it was an area 5 yards square behind the corner of a boom...

I can remember the Braer 'disaster' in Scotland when the TV was trying to whip up the same hysteria

The only proven animal casualty during the whole thing was an otter run down by a journalist's car !!!!!

Well I covered my shorts at the bottom (or close to it) with more than a 40% gain. :innocent:

Just wait til the damage awards and punitive awards start rolling in. Let's see where that bottom really is :P

Remember 49 % of the share value of BP is owned by US residents and pension funds, so killing dividends for US pension funds will be no advantage to Mr O

He needs BP to prosper and pay tax into the future and he needs to attract home all the other oil companies who have fled to Brazil and forced EWZ my Brazil ETF up too...

If I was running an oil company, I would steer well clear of the US in future and pay all my tax to other countries. That's why BP is selling US oil assets in Alaska to US oil companies who can come under the hammer instead

The goose and the golden egg etc

I know this all too well. My pension fund is very heavily invested in BP.

That's great - as they say 'nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public' - looks like we both prospered off it like Walmart has been doing for years

Alan bragging about his BP connection...again...ya...h

I don't like to say 'I told you so'. aaaaaarggghhh you just caught me lying !

Seriously though, when an individual backs their judgment against public opinion as formed by all the cable companies and insincere politicians, I think they are entitled to take a bow..

It's the American way

thank you fans - (does a twirl)
