Oh GOSH! now I'm DYING for a ploughman's sandwich with Branston pickle and REAL cheddar cheese :(

Okay grant you I am the American in this realationship but what is up with Branston pickle??? Nick was so excited for me to try some last time I was in Leeds, and I don't want to break hearts but that is some scary *&%#%!!! Can someone explain why he was gonna bring jars of the stuff with him?? (I found it here at World Market)... Now I could see Greggs Sausage rolls (we don't have anything like that in Wisconsin :(:(LOL)

One of the things i'm going to have a hard time dealing with. I'm not great at 'English' but i do hate poor grammar / spelling. :s

1990(-ish): Family Holiday to FL. Met Nicole & family.

1990(-ish) - 1992(-ish): A few return visits

08-09/2007: Go back to FL. Meet with 'the folks' & Accept that we both 'like' each other & start dating.

02/2008 - Present: ...go back to FL again a few times.

09/2009: Propose and she says 'Yes'! :D

11/06/2009: I-129F posted to VSC

11/07/2009: I-129F received at VSC

11/09/2009: NOA1

11/13/2009: Touch

12/2009: ...back to FL once again

03/08/2010: Touch & NOA2 (119 Days)

03/11/2010: NVC have my case

03/12/2010: NVC incorrectly assigned & dispatched case to Dublin, not London!

03/18/2010: Package arrived in Dublin

03/19/2010: Ring Dublin and get case transferred to London

04/01/2010: London Sent 'P3'

04/03/2010: I Received 'P3'

04/14/2010: 'P3' sent back to embassy

04/16/2010: 'P3' recieved at embassy

04/29/2010: Medical - Passed

06/17/2010: Interview - In AP (220 Days)

08/17/2010: AP Finished - Approved

I tend to agree with you. Pickle is some nasty stuff. But, it's what Nick grew up with. Some Brits regard our hamburger relish as horrid.

And it just occurred to me that I have rarely seen a thread about Brits adjusting to life in the US that did not digress to a discussion about food! :lol:

and it always comes back to bacon and bread......

I have to say that I prefer the American bacon, and I'm the brit! I live in NYC so never really want for all things English. Its here. Fish and Chips at 'A Salt and Battery', Bangers and MAsh with Onion gravy at 'Tea and Sympathy', EPL footy action at...er...anywhere. Its an easy transition if you're in a major city and international transport hub.

I think in most US/UK relationships food is the biggets adjustment. The language is the same (kinda), we grow up watching US movies, TV, Music and sports so we are not surprised by much.

09/14/2006 - US Embassy interview. Ask Lauren to marry me again, just to make sure. Says Yes. Phew!
