So when a couple marries in Morocco and both couples go to the "Registry Office" and file all paperwork that is needed, from my understanding after talking with my fiance, this is the day in which a couple is actually considered legally married and then paperwork is sent to court and signed by judge. Is this correct?

So the actual wedding ceremony even if six months down the road is not the wedding date one would use when coming back to the states and filing married? Do you have to use the date in which judge signed the forms? or the date submitted at Registry Office in the U.S.?

Would it be considered a "red flag" if one did this on their first visit together? I mean are you really legally married when you come back to the U.S.?

Now onto another subject:

Let's say my fiance was denied on his interview which is most likely in October. I was planning on visiting there anyway. So how long does one have to wait to marry if denied with the I-129. If I am there can I not do any of my paperwork for marriage or do I have to wait the 3-4 months for the USCIS to receive the packet and then go from there.

Just some morning thoughts wondering in my head today and wanted to get some info from those who have been there and done that.

Thanks.

You do not have to wait to get married if you 129f is sent back for review. However, once you do marry, the 129f can not be used for US entry because it is a fiancee visa. So you would need to withdraw it if it were to be re-approved at USCIS.

The day you are considered legally married is the day you both sign the paperwork in the Odools office. This will be stated on your paperwork which you will need to have transalted to english anyway.

Don't worry so much. Think happy thoughts. :)

Hey there I was just married in Morocco last month and the date of marriage is the day you go see the adoul and sign the book of marriage. After you do that you can have your wedding party anytime. I myself did not marry the first time because I felt it was best to have a getting to know you period and a long engagement which for me was 19 months and we have been together since Dec 07. I think it is best to take your time and go slow but this is just my opinion! A Moroccan marriage is recongnized in the US so yes when you come back you are considered legally married and I have already been to social security and changed my name. Be sure to get the wedding certificated translated before you come back!!

About your other question I am not sure of the answer. Hopefully someone with more experience in that can advise you! Best of luck!!!!!

Oh Hi and thank you for your info. Oh yes indeed we have too been dating for 17 months now with 5 trips to Morocco behind me. I just didn't know when a couple could actually be legally married. Wow you just got married last month.......so happy for you. I was just thinking if for some reason he was denied, I wanted to maybe take some important paperwork over there in October like birth certificate, divorce papers, police record, anything that I might could get translated while I was there so we could get the process of marriage going for when I return in January (if denied) with all hopes he will be approved. Are you gonna post any of your marriage pictures on your page? Would love to see them.smile.gif

LOL I do worry so much I swear. If it expires in Nov, 2010 then I am free to marry no matter what, or do I still have to withdraw the form.?

Hello, you are welcome and I would wait to get everything translated which only takes a day or so because documents in Morocco expire. I would suggest that you SO goes to the family court and gets a list of what is needed for marriage in that city and about a month before you are going you SO starts getting all the documents together because that they need from Morocco because that is what takes up the most time. And keep in mind from what I am understanding if your K1 gets denied and you get married and you get denied as married you can not reapply again you would have to appeal the decision and wait it out. So if it happens you would need to consider that when making your decision for your next step. at least this is what I have been told. I will probably post some pics soon I am new here and am still trying to figure out the navigation of this site. best of Luck!!!
