I don't see why I care. I bought the cherry, it's my property. I have rights over my property, my property has no rights over me.

But that cherry has feelings too! It is a unique cherry, perfect in its own way, with hopes and fears, and a working knowledge of all the films of Richard Curtis (and can quote extensively from Love Actually)... How can you deny it its own pleasure?

My mum told me and my brother when we were little that everyone does it, and if they deny it, they're lying. This is why I find it shocking when people are ashamed of it.

My husband on the other hand, was raised religiously, and although no one told him that it was bad, he was very sexually repressed. No one taught him anything, his parents just gave him a book about sex from a Christian perspective, and that was that. It was only when he met me that he was unleashed.

You little minx! I knew there was a reason you were my secret internet little sister.luv.gif

It can if it wants to. I don't care as long as I get mine.

Now who's being cruel?

I don't necc think that people use euphemisms because they are uneasy with the subject, or somehow repressed. I think that it's quite possible that many do not talk about it because they consider their sex lives to be a private situation between themselves, and their partners.

To be fair, the question wasn't about euphemisms, but whether or not women think it is somehow unseemly to masturbate once they are married. I believe Mags said they were willing to talk about it, but only in the context of "I would never do that."

I was responding to her first two lines of text in this thread. As far as anything else concerning the subject of masturbation as it relates to me, personally, I believe that my post implies how I feel about discussing it with the world. ;)

Most people on VJ are too immature to discuss this, Mags.

My opinion is that most people are ashamed to masturbate, or admit they masturbate, because of their religious upbringing. I was raised Catholic and we were taught that self pleasuring is a sin. A lot of these really conservative Christian get freaky about masturbation.

LoL I loved the euphemisms and imagery that the church used when talking about masturbation. I think they used "spill your seed", and the way that the nuns said it was eery. So there I was a 12 year old kid worrying about god looking over my shoulder while I pumped my love muscle.

Personally, I use euphemisms for much the same reason I don't use clinical terms when having sex, it just doesn't sound right.
