BelovedSisterNina...all my work is project work...ugh...but the good news is that eventually the project does end  For me personally, I can't imagine working a normal 40 hour week and not having an 'end' in sight. So, put in that frame of mind, projects become bearable :star:

I have a verbal offer from a Norwegian company with really good benefits.. But they have a hiring freeze in effect right now and asked me to wait a couple of months before they can send me an offer letter. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I get that job.

I hope you get it too. BTW do all American firms in your line of work have bad benefits?

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Working for an European company = 4 weeks paid vacation (increases to 5 weeks after 3 years) + 11 paid holidays + 8% matching 401K $1-$1 + free very good medical/dental/vision for me, spouse & kids + 100% tuition reimbursement + gym in the middle of the office + free lunch & snacks

And my benefits would kick in from the first day of work, so I wont have to wait for 3 months like most American companies. None of the American companies offer that.

The 8% 401K sounds awesome. I get 4% right now, dollar to dollar on the first 4%.

yeah, it is. My husband gets 6% matching $1-$.50 after 3 years of service. Really sucky.

The match goes up with seniority? I've not heard of that before. What I hate are the 5-year vesting schedules.

My wife gets immediate vesting in her 401K but she didn't get a match until she was an employee for a year. At my company you get all benefits after 30 days, incl. 401K but you gotta stick around 5 years or else you lose the entire employer matc.
