Hi everyone,

My parents went for their interview tday. My mom got her visa, but my dad was handed a 221g stating that his case needs further administrative processing. The officer has asked him to check his application number on the mbassy's website, and as soon as the number is there he should go to the embassy again. does anyone know what this is about? Does this mean that they are running a background check?

please help!

Thank you

Sam11,

Your father has to go thru more indepth checks now. All females usually get their visa's coming from the ME and Asian countries without AR/AP. Almost all men have to endure more intense security checks. If he only gave two index finger prints he is being cleared on his name. If he has to submit all 10 fingerprints it means he had a name hit already and they must verify that his name is clear. Good luck and hopefully the process will not take too long.

Everything I respond to is from personal knowledge, research or experience and I am in no means a lawyer or do I claim to be one. Everyone should read, research and be responsible for your own journey.

Sam,

Mary is right. They do 221(g) for almost all male applicants, but female applicants are spared. 221(g) is a blue form which just says they can not issue the visa and it is pending for 221(g). There is no reason to panic.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

Thanks for your reply. It made me feel better, because he only gave two index finger prints. I hope the name check results are back on time. good luck to you too.
