I don't get it. If two cousins want to get married, let them get married, what's the big deal?

Always been thought to increase the risk of birth defects if both are carrying the gene. I remember UCLA did a study on this a few years ago and said the risk was not as great as thought. Still my ex-brother inlaw married a first cousin and the two boys both had hearing defects. Not sure if cause but it dies make you wonder.
