If you're wondering that this process takes a toll on the relationship - I don't think that it does. If anything, it strengthens the bond.

The bottom line on long distance relationships depends on people's priorities. If a relationship with a soulmate/companion/lover is very high on people's list of priorities, they'll manage to get together one way or another because it is important to them. If they are seeking a lifetime companion with whom to enjoy the second half of their lives, nothing will stand in the way of their getting together -- no matter how far apart they are to begin with. If having a soulmate to enjoy during the best part of their lives is not a priority, and other things are more important (to either of the pair), then a long distance relationship will be a very difficult matter since one or both of the couple have other matters that they value more.

Well since there is talk of a Divorce Forum to be placed on here ....

There is nothing magical or indestructible about relationships going through this process....all relationships take work and I guess the ones on here take extra work and commitment at times.

This process isn't for everybody. It can strenthen bonds, that's true.

The 'longing' though that is experienced when separated is unfortunately for some, blinders. Once real life hits and the couple have to truly interact daily then values, priorities and cultural differences can clash.

Both partners need to have their eyes wide open. These marriages have all the normal adjustments that any couple will experience, plus a myriad of cultural and immigration curves to boot. If there's immaturity, selfishness or microwave mentalities involved, it won't last.

Good advice. My wife is always telling me not to worry about the future too much.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."
